Frequently Asked

Questions About Caesarstone Porcelain

What is Caesarstone Porcelain and how is it different from quartz?
Caesarstone Porcelain is an engineered ceramic surface made from natural minerals fired at extremely high temperatures, typically around 1200°C. Unlike quartz, which uses polymer resins as a binding agent, porcelain contains zero resin, making it inherently more heat resistant and fully UV stable for outdoor use. It also achieves a perfect 5 out of 5 across hardness, stain resistance, UV resistance, heat resistance, and scratch resistance.
Can Caesarstone Porcelain worktops be used outdoors?
Yes. Caesarstone Porcelain is fully UV stable, meaning it will not fade, discolour, or degrade when exposed to direct sunlight. This makes it one of the few worktop materials suitable for outdoor kitchens, BBQ areas, and garden bars without any risk of colour change or surface deterioration over time.
How thick are Caesarstone Porcelain slabs?
All Caesarstone Porcelain slabs are supplied at a standard thickness of 12mm. This slender profile gives installations a sleek, contemporary edge while keeping the surface lightweight compared to thicker quartz or natural stone alternatives. Each slab measures 1600mm × 3200mm, providing ample material for large kitchen islands and long worktop runs with minimal seaming.
What warranty does Caesarstone offer on its porcelain surfaces?
Caesarstone provides a Lifetime residential warranty on its porcelain range, subject to registration and adherence to their care guidelines. A separate commercial warranty is also available for hospitality and trade installations. The warranty covers manufacturing defects and confirms Caesarstone's confidence in the long-term durability of its porcelain products.
How do I clean and maintain a Caesarstone Porcelain worktop?
Daily cleaning requires nothing more than warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid plant oil-based soaps. For Honed and Ultra Rough finishes, metal marks and fingerprints can be removed using CIF cream or Cilit Bang Bleach & Hygiene. Never polish with a polishing machine. For stubborn rust marks, Barkeeper's Friend power spray or oxalic acid on a damp cloth is recommended. The surface never needs sealing.
Does Caesarstone Porcelain need sealing?
No. Caesarstone Porcelain is completely non-porous with zero water absorption, so it never requires sealing at any point during its lifetime. This is one of its key advantages over natural stone surfaces like marble, granite, and limestone, which all require regular sealing to prevent staining.
What design styles are available in the Caesarstone Porcelain range?
The collection spans 30 designs across multiple aesthetic categories: classic marble effects inspired by Calacatta, Carrara, and Statuario; warm travertine and limestone textures; exotic onyx-effect banding; contemporary concrete finishes; and dramatic dark marbles including Nero Marquina and Emperador styles. Colours range from pure white through warm cream, beige, and grey, to deep black.
Can I place hot pans directly on a Caesarstone Porcelain worktop?
Caesarstone Porcelain has exceptional heat resistance, scoring a perfect 5 out of 5, because it is fired at extremely high temperatures during manufacturing. While the surface itself can handle thermal shock far better than quartz or natural stone, Caesarstone recommends using trivets or heat pads as a general precaution to protect the surface finish and any bonded joints.
