Beautiful Design Styles

From dramatic undermounted kitchen sinks to sculptural bathroom basins, an integrated stone sink removes visual clutter and creates a surface that's as easy to clean as it is beautiful. Here are three ways our stonemasons bring this to life.

Undermounted Kitchen Sink

A dark granite worktop with an undermounted sink bonded seamlessly beneath — no rim, no lip, just one continuous surface. Crumbs and water sweep straight into the bowl without catching on edges.

Sculpted Bathroom Basin

A marble-effect quartz vanity with an integrated basin carved from the same slab. The veining flows uninterrupted from the flat surface into the bowl, creating a piece that feels more like sculpture than plumbing.

The Invisible Join

The hallmark of true stonemasonship — a close-up showing the perfectly smooth transition from worktop to sink bowl. No visible seam, no trapped dirt, just a continuous curve hand-finished by our team.

Your Guide to Stone Sinks & Basins

Crafted by Our Stonemasons, Not Bought Off a Shelf

Most stone companies fit a stainless steel or composite sink underneath a worktop and call it a day. We do something different. Our stonemasons fabricate bespoke stone sinks and basins in-house — shaped, carved, and hand-finished by the same team who craft your worktops. The result is a truly integrated piece where worktop and sink are one continuous sweep of stone, with no rim, no silicone seal to discolour, and no joint to harbour dirt.

We’ve already created custom sinks from granite, marble, and quartz, and we regularly work with sintered stone and porcelain for clients who want something more contemporary. If your project calls for a material we haven’t mentioned, talk to Ian — with over 25 years in the stone industry, chances are he’s already worked with it.

Kitchen Sinks — Seamless and Hardwearing

Undermount Stone Sinks

The most requested option. We bond the sink bowl to the underside of the worktop slab, then hand-polish the transition until it’s invisible. Water, crumbs, and spills sweep straight into the bowl without catching on a lip or rim. It’s the detail that makes guests run a finger along the edge and ask, “How is that all one piece?”

Integrated Butler Sinks

For a more traditional kitchen, we carve a deep butler-style basin from a contrasting stone — a crisp white quartz bowl set into a dark granite worktop, for example. The farmhouse warmth of a deep sink, built with the precision of modern stone fabrication.

Drainer Grooves

Instead of a stainless steel draining board, we machine drainage channels directly into the stone beside your sink. These subtle grooves guide water back into the bowl while keeping the entire surface clean and uncluttered — one of those small bespoke details that transforms a kitchen from nice to exceptional.

Bathroom Basins — Sculptural Luxury

Vanity Basins

A stone vanity basin carved from the same slab as the vanity top creates a completely seamless surface. The worktop flows elegantly into the bowl without interruption. Marble-effect quartz works beautifully here — the veining appears to cascade down into the basin, creating something that feels closer to sculpture than plumbing.

Freestanding Vessel Basins

For a bolder statement, we sculpt freestanding vessel basins from solid blocks of stone. Sitting atop a vanity or shelf, these pieces become a dramatic centrepiece in a contemporary bathroom, especially when paired with a wall-mounted tap.

Cloakroom Basins

Even the smallest spaces benefit from stone. A compact stone basin in a cloakroom or WC instantly elevates what’s usually an afterthought, giving visitors an immediate impression of quality and care throughout your home.

Materials We Fabricate Sinks From

Granite — Rugged Natural Beauty

Granite’s exceptional hardness makes it a superb choice for kitchen sinks that take daily punishment. Every slab carries unique natural movement and depth of colour. We’ve fabricated granite sinks in everything from deep blacks to warm speckled tones, sealed to last for decades.

Best for: Busy family kitchens, traditional designs, and anyone who wants a surface that shrugs off hot pans and heavy pots.

Marble — Timeless Elegance

Nothing matches the visual drama of a marble basin. The depth of veining, the warmth of the polished surface, the way light plays across a hand-finished bowl — it’s pure luxury. Marble does ask for a little more care, but many homeowners consider the subtle patina it develops over time to be part of its character.

Best for: Bathroom basins, powder rooms, and design-led spaces where aesthetics take priority.

Quartz — The Practical All-Rounder

Quartz is non-porous, stain-resistant, and available in hundreds of designs. It handles daily use without staining, won’t harbour bacteria, and never needs sealing. For an integrated kitchen sink that needs to survive family life without fuss, quartz is hard to beat. Brands like Silestone and Caesarstone offer stunning marble-look patterns with none of the maintenance.

Best for: Family kitchens, busy bathrooms, and anyone who wants beauty without compromise on upkeep.

Sintered Stone — Ultra-Modern Durability

Sintered stone from brands like Dekton and Neolith is virtually indestructible. It won’t scratch, stain, or discolour — even with bleach, red wine, or extreme heat. For kitchens that see serious use, or commercial settings where durability is non-negotiable, sintered stone is the ultimate material for a bespoke sink.

Best for: Contemporary kitchens, commercial bars, and anyone who wants zero-maintenance performance.

Porcelain — Sleek and Lightweight

Large-format porcelain slabs are increasingly popular for integrated sinks, offering a thinner profile with excellent resistance to scratches and chemicals. The range of finishes — from polished marble-look to raw concrete effect — means porcelain suits almost any design scheme.

Best for: Modern bathrooms, minimalist kitchens, and projects where a slimline aesthetic matters.

How We Make Them

Creating a bespoke stone sink is skilled stonemasonship, and it’s done entirely in our own workshop. The process starts with CNC machining, which cuts the initial bowl shape with sub-millimetre precision. From there, our craftsmen hand-polish the interior through progressively finer grits until the surface is perfectly smooth and consistent with the surrounding worktop.

The join — where the bowl meets the flat surface — is bonded and polished until you genuinely cannot see or feel the transition. This is the kind of work that separates real stonemasons from companies that simply supply slabs. As one of our customers said: “The difference between a stonemason and just suppliers of worktops is huge.”

Practical Details

Waste Fittings and Overflow

Every sink we fabricate accommodates standard waste fittings. We cut the waste outlet precisely to accept your chosen plug assembly. Overflow drainage can be routed through the stone itself, keeping everything hidden and clean.

Tap Holes

We cut tap holes through the worktop with the same CNC precision used for the sink bowl. Whether you want a traditional mixer, a boiling water tap, or a wall-mounted fitting, we’ll cut and finish the aperture to suit.

Weight and Support

Stone sinks add weight, which sometimes requires additional cabinet support underneath. During our hand templating visit, we assess the structure and recommend any reinforcement — no assumptions, no surprises later.

From Conversation to Finished Sink

You deal with the same small team from start to finish:

  1. Showroom visit — See stone samples, discuss your sink or basin design, and get honest advice on which material suits your space

Frequently Asked

Stone Sinks & Basins Questions

What is the best material for an integrated stone sink?
For kitchens, quartz is the most popular choice for integrated sinks because it's non-porous, stain-resistant, and never needs sealing — ideal for a surface that's constantly in contact with water and food. Sintered stone brands like Dekton and Neolith are virtually indestructible and perfect if you want zero-maintenance performance. Granite offers exceptional natural hardness and handles hot pans directly. For bathrooms, marble-effect quartz gives you the stunning veining of real marble with far greater durability. At In2stone, we can guide you through the options in our showroom — we carry over 500 samples so you can see and feel the difference.
How much does an integrated stone sink cost?
An integrated stone sink is a bespoke item — the cost depends on the material, the size and depth of the bowl, and the complexity of the fabrication. As a guide, adding an integrated sink to a quartz worktop typically adds between £500 and £1,500 to the overall project cost, though prices vary depending on the stone chosen. At In2stone, we provide honest, transparent quotes with no hidden costs — the price we quote is the price you pay. We consistently beat competitor quotes, and we're always happy to provide a free, no-obligation quotation.
Can quartz be used for a kitchen sink?
Absolutely — quartz is one of the best materials for an integrated kitchen sink. It's engineered to be non-porous, which means it won't absorb water, harbour bacteria, or stain from food. Brands like Silestone and Caesarstone offer a huge range of colours and patterns, including stunning marble-effect designs that look beautiful as a seamless sink and worktop combination. Quartz sinks handle daily kitchen use — hot drinks, food prep, washing up — without showing wear. The only thing to avoid is placing scalding hot pans directly in the bowl, although brief contact with warm water is perfectly fine.
Are stone sinks hygienic?
Stone sinks — particularly those made from quartz or sintered stone — are exceptionally hygienic. Non-porous surfaces don't absorb liquid, which means bacteria, mould, and mildew have nowhere to grow. The key advantage of an integrated stone sink over a traditional drop-in or undermount stainless steel sink is the elimination of the silicone seal around the rim. That seal is a notorious trap for dirt, grime, and bacteria. With an integrated stone sink, the worktop flows seamlessly into the basin with no gap, no joint, and no place for germs to hide. A simple wipe with warm water and a mild detergent is all the cleaning they need.
What size stone sink do I need for my kitchen?
Kitchen stone sinks typically come in single-bowl or double-bowl configurations. A standard single-bowl integrated sink is around 500mm wide by 400mm front-to-back and 200mm deep — large enough for daily washing up and food preparation. Larger or deeper bowls can be fabricated to suit your needs. During our hand templating visit, we measure your existing cabinetry and discuss the ideal sink size, depth, and position for your kitchen layout. Everything is bespoke, so there are no off-the-shelf limitations — if you want a wider bowl, shallower profile, or a specific shape, our stonemasons can create it.
How long does it take to install a stone sink?
From the point your cabinetry is fitted and ready, the typical timeline is about 14 days from template to installation. Our team hand-templates in your kitchen or bathroom, fabricates the worktop and sink in our own workshop using CNC machining and hand finishing, and then returns to install. The installation itself is usually completed in a single day. You'll deal with the same small team throughout — from the first phone call to the final polish — which is how we maintain our 4.9-star rating from over 90 reviews.
Can I have an integrated stone basin in my bathroom?
Yes — bathroom stone basins are one of our most visually striking products. The basin can be carved from the same slab as the vanity top, creating a completely seamless surface where the pattern or veining flows uninterrupted from the flat surface into the bowl. Marble-effect quartz is particularly popular for bathrooms because it gives you the luxury of Italian marble veining with the durability and low maintenance of engineered stone. We also craft freestanding vessel basins that sit atop a vanity, compact cloakroom basins, and double-basin vanity units. Each piece is fabricated in our own workshop to your exact specifications.
Do stone sinks scratch or stain?
This depends on the material. Quartz and sintered stone sinks are extremely resistant to both scratching and staining — they're engineered to withstand daily kitchen and bathroom use without showing wear. Granite is naturally very hard and handles scratches well, though it benefits from periodic sealing to maintain stain resistance. Marble is softer and more susceptible to scratching and staining, which is why we generally recommend it for lower-traffic bathroom basins rather than busy kitchen sinks. Our team at In2stone will guide you to the right material for your specific use case — we've been doing this for over 25 years and we know which stones perform best in which situations.
What materials can be used for a custom stone sink or basin?
We fabricate bespoke sinks and basins from granite, marble, quartz, sintered stone, and porcelain — all shaped and hand-finished in our own workshop. Granite is exceptionally hard and well-suited to busy kitchen sinks. Marble brings timeless elegance to bathroom basins. Quartz is non-porous and virtually maintenance-free, making it the most popular choice for integrated kitchen sinks. Sintered stone from brands like Dekton is virtually indestructible, and porcelain offers a sleek, slimline profile. If you have another material in mind, speak to our team — with over 25 years in the industry, we can advise on what will work best for your project.
How much does a bespoke stone sink cost?
The cost of a custom stone sink depends on the material, the size and shape of the bowl, and whether it is integrated into a new worktop or retrofitted into an existing one. As a guide, an integrated undermount sink in quartz or granite will be more than a standard stainless steel unit but far less than many homeowners expect — and the result is incomparably more luxurious. We provide transparent, fixed-price quotes with no hidden costs, and we consistently beat competitor pricing. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote tailored to your specific design.
How are integrated stone sinks actually made?
Our stonemasons fabricate every sink in-house using a combination of CNC machining and traditional hand-finishing. The CNC machine cuts the initial bowl shape with sub-millimetre accuracy. Our craftsmen then hand-polish the interior through progressively finer grits until the surface is perfectly smooth. The join between sink and worktop is bonded and polished until it is completely invisible to both sight and touch. This is skilled stonemasonship — not a factory process — and it is why our sinks look and feel like a single, continuous piece of stone.
Can a stone sink be added to an existing worktop?
In most cases, yes. If your existing worktop is stone, we can cut and finish a sink aperture and bond an undermount sink bowl beneath it. However, the best results come from fabricating the worktop and sink together as one piece, which gives us full control over the transition and finish. During a free consultation, we can assess your current worktop and advise on the most practical approach. We will always be honest about what is achievable and what will give you the best long-term result.
Are stone sinks practical for everyday kitchen use?
Absolutely. A well-fabricated stone sink is as practical as it is beautiful. Quartz and sintered stone are non-porous, meaning they will not stain or harbour bacteria even with heavy daily use. Granite is extremely hard and handles hot pans without flinching. The seamless design actually makes stone sinks easier to keep clean than traditional sinks because there are no rims, lips, or silicone seals where grime can accumulate. A quick wipe with warm soapy water is all most stone sinks need.
What shapes and sizes are available for custom stone basins?
Because we fabricate every sink to order, the shape and size are entirely up to you. We can create rectangular, oval, or curved basins in virtually any dimension that suits your cabinetry and space. For kitchens, undermount and butler-style sinks are the most popular. For bathrooms, we craft integrated vanity basins, freestanding vessel basins, and compact cloakroom bowls. We can also machine drainer grooves directly into the stone beside a kitchen sink, eliminating the need for a separate draining board.
How do you maintain and clean a stone sink?
Day-to-day, warm water and a soft cloth or mild detergent are all you need. Quartz and sintered stone never require sealing and are resistant to virtually all household chemicals. Granite sinks should be sealed annually with a quality impregnating sealer to maintain their stain resistance. Marble basins benefit from sealing every six to twelve months and respond best to pH-neutral cleaners — avoid acidic products. Regardless of material, we recommend using a gentle cleaner rather than abrasive pads to preserve the hand-polished finish.
How long does it take to fabricate and install a custom stone sink?
From confirmed order to installation, our standard turnaround is around 14 working days. The process begins with a hand-templating visit to take precision measurements once your cabinetry is in place. We then fabricate the worktop and sink in our workshop, including all CNC cutting, hand-polishing, and quality checks. Installation is typically completed in a single day by the same team who templated your space. We will keep you informed at every stage, and the quote we give you is the price you pay — no hidden extras.
