The Stone

See the natural beauty of Silk Negro up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this sintered stone unique.

Colour:

Black

Pure graphite black, no compromise — Silk Negro is the definitive minimalist sintered stone for architectural interiors.

Some surfaces derive their power from complexity — from veining, patterning, and movement. Silk Negro derives its power from absolute precision and restraint. This is one of the most uniformly dark surfaces Inalco offers: a deep, saturated graphite-black that presents an unbroken, even field across the full 3200mm of the slab, with only the finest digital grain breaking the near-total visual silence. There are no veins to divert the eye, no speckle to introduce accent colour — just black, perfect and resolute. The natural finish of Silk Negro has a quality that earns its name: a smooth, slightly lustrous surface that feels silky under the hand and catches light with a quiet, controlled sheen rather than the high glare of a polished finish. This makes it remarkably compatible with natural materials — timber particularly — where its darkness provides depth without overwhelming the warmer, more textured surfaces around it. Japandi interiors, in particular, find Silk Negro an ideal worktop: the stone provides the architectural weight and darkness that anchors the composition while timber and natural fabrics provide warmth and organic life. Available in 6mm for panel and cladding applications through In2stone, Portsmouth. A sintered stone surface of rare precision and conviction.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Silk Negro

What does Silk Negro look like?
Silk Negro is a pure, uniform graphite-black sintered stone — one of the darkest and most visually minimal surfaces in the entire Inalco MDi range. The slab presents an unbroken field of deep charcoal-black with no veining, no speckle, and no pattern: only the faintest digital grain providing any surface variation. The natural finish is smooth and carries a quiet, silk-like lustre. The effect is of absolute tonal saturation and deliberate visual silence — one of the most architecturally powerful plain surfaces available.
What thickness is Silk Negro available in?
Silk Negro is available in 6mm through In2stone. This makes it ideal for wall cladding, splashbacks, furniture fronts, bathroom wall panels, and feature surface applications where the pure graphite-black makes a bold design statement without requiring the full mass of a 12mm worktop slab.
What interior styles does Silk Negro suit?
Silk Negro is the definitive surface for Japandi, minimalist, and architectural interior design. Its pure black uniform surface anchors spaces with quiet authority and integrates seamlessly with the natural materials — timber, stone, linen — that characterise these design movements. It also suits dark luxury hotel-style bathrooms where a uniform near-black surface creates spa-like drama, and ultra-contemporary kitchens where the design calls for maximum tonal contrast without decorative complexity.
How does Silk Negro differ from Azalai Negro?
The two Inalco MDi blacks represent opposite ends of the design spectrum. Azalai Negro is dramatic and expressive — bold white and gold veining on jet black for maximum visual impact. Silk Negro is the black of absolute restraint — no veining, no pattern, just pure deep graphite-black with the finest digital grain. Both are sintered stone with identical performance credentials, but they suit entirely different design languages. Azalai Negro makes a theatrical statement; Silk Negro makes an architectural one.
Is Silk Negro suitable as a bathroom splashback?
Yes — Silk Negro is an excellent bathroom splashback material, particularly in 6mm. A full-height slab of pure graphite-black behind a white basin or bath creates a dramatic contrast that immediately elevates the bathroom to hotel-suite quality. Its sintered stone composition means it is fully water-resistant, will not absorb soap or shampoo residues, and requires only wiping down to maintain its appearance. No sealing is required.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
