Your Guide to Custom Stone Furniture

Stone Furniture That Becomes the Room

There is something about a piece of stone furniture that changes the way a room feels. A dining table made from granite or marble is not just a surface — it is the anchor around which everything else arranges itself. It sets the tone. It draws the eye. And unlike timber or veneer, it will look exactly the same in twenty years as it does today.

At In2stone, we design and handcraft bespoke stone furniture for homes across Portsmouth and Hampshire and beyond. Whether you are imagining a dramatic dining table for your open-plan kitchen, a low-profile coffee table that commands a living room, or a marble dressing table that brings genuine luxury to your bedroom, we can build it.

Every piece is cut, profiled, and polished in our workshop using the same precision CNC machinery and expert craftsmanship that goes into our kitchen worktops. The difference is that furniture gives stone the freedom to be truly sculptural.

Stone Dining Tables

A stone dining table is the ultimate centrepiece — a surface built for daily life that never shows its age. Where timber scratches and glass smudges, polished granite or quartz shrugs off everything family life can throw at it. Hot dishes, red wine spills, homework in felt-tip pen — nothing leaves a permanent mark.

We fabricate dining table tops from any material in our range, matched to your exact dimensions and edge profile. Whether you want a six-seater rectangle in dramatic Calacatta-effect quartz or a round four-seater in jet-black granite, we cut it from a single slab for seamless beauty.

For all-stone constructions, we fabricate every component. Where metal legs or a steel base are part of the design, we are happy to work with your own designer or collaborate with our trusted local partners who specialise in bespoke metalwork, timber, and brass bases to complement your chosen stone.

Stone Coffee Tables

A stone coffee table brings substance and permanence to a living room. The weight and texture of natural stone gives a coffee table a presence that lighter materials simply cannot achieve. It grounds the room and provides a surface you never need to worry about.

Granite and sintered stone are popular choices for coffee tables because they are virtually indestructible in everyday use — no coasters needed, no anxiety about hot mugs or condensation rings. Marble offers warmer, softer aesthetics with its natural veining, making it ideal for spaces where visual warmth matters more than absolute practicality.

We can fabricate coffee table tops in virtually any shape — rectangular, square, circular, or organic freeform — and finish them with a polished, honed, or leathered edge profile to suit your interior style.

Stone Dressing Tables

A stone dressing table transforms a bedroom into something that feels like a boutique hotel suite. Marble is the natural choice here — its soft veining and warm tones create an atmosphere of quiet luxury that laminate and timber cannot replicate.

We cut dressing table tops to your exact dimensions, including cutouts for built-in mirrors or cable management if needed. The surface is heat-resistant (no damage from hair straighteners), stain-resistant, and utterly beautiful as a backdrop for your morning routine.

Quartz is an excellent alternative if you want the marble look with even less maintenance — engineered quartz surfaces offer identical aesthetics with complete stain immunity.

Choosing the Right Stone for Furniture

Not every stone suits every application. Here is how the main materials compare for furniture use:

Granite — The strongest natural stone. Virtually scratch-proof and heat-proof. Ideal for dining tables and coffee tables that see heavy daily use. Available in dramatic dark tones and subtle speckled finishes.

Quartz — Engineered for consistency and zero maintenance. Non-porous, stain-proof, and available in a huge range of colours and patterns including convincing marble effects. Perfect for families who want beauty without worry.

Marble — Unmatched natural warmth and character. Every slab is unique. Best suited to dressing tables, side tables, and pieces in lower-traffic areas where its natural patina can develop gracefully over time.

Sintered Stone — The toughest option available. UV-stable, scratch-proof, and heat-proof up to 300°C. Ideal for conservatory furniture or pieces in direct sunlight where other materials might fade.

How We Build Your Furniture

The process is straightforward. You tell us what you want — the type of piece, the dimensions, the material, and the edge profile. We help you choose the perfect slab, either from stock or by sourcing something specific. We then CNC-cut and hand-polish the stone components in our workshop. If your piece includes non-stone elements like metal legs or a steel frame, we can work with your designer or our trusted local fabrication partners to bring the complete vision together.

Every piece of stone furniture we create is finished to the same exacting standard as our kitchen worktops — because whether it is a dining table or a dressing table, the craftsmanship should be flawless.

Frequently Asked

Custom Stone Furniture Questions

What types of stone furniture can In2stone make?
We design and handcraft a wide range of bespoke stone furniture including dining tables, coffee tables, dressing tables, side tables, console tables, and custom statement pieces. Every item is CNC-cut and hand-polished in our workshop to your exact dimensions and specifications.
What stone materials are available for furniture?
We offer quartz, granite, marble, and sintered stone for all furniture pieces. Granite is the toughest choice for heavy-use dining tables. Quartz provides consistency and zero maintenance. Marble offers unmatched natural warmth and character. Sintered stone is the most durable and UV-stable option for conservatories or sunlit rooms.
Can you make a stone dining table to my specific size?
Absolutely. Every dining table top is fabricated to your exact dimensions from a single slab. Whether you need a compact four-seater circular top or a large eight-seater rectangle, we cut and polish it to your precise requirements, including your choice of edge profile.
Do I need to supply the table base or legs?
We fabricate the stone table top itself. You are welcome to supply your own base, or we can recommend trusted local craftsmen who create bespoke steel, timber, or brass bases designed to complement your chosen stone. This gives you complete flexibility over the finished look.
Is a stone coffee table practical for everyday use?
Very much so. Granite and sintered stone coffee tables are virtually indestructible in everyday use. You will never need coasters, and hot mugs, condensation rings, and spills wipe away without leaving a trace. Stone coffee tables combine beauty with genuine worry-free practicality.
Will a marble dressing table stain from cosmetics?
Marble is naturally porous and can absorb some liquids if left for extended periods, so we recommend sealing a marble dressing table top every 6 to 12 months as a precaution. Alternatively, quartz offers an identical marble-look aesthetic with complete stain immunity and zero maintenance.
How much does custom stone furniture cost?
Pricing depends on the material, the size of the piece, and the complexity of the edge profile. Because furniture pieces are often smaller than full kitchen worktops, they can be surprisingly affordable. We provide fully transparent, inclusive quotes with no hidden extras.
Can I match my stone furniture to my existing worktops?
Yes. If you already have an In2stone kitchen or bathroom, we can source the same material to create furniture that visually ties the room together. Where possible, we can even cut from the same slab batch to ensure the closest possible colour and pattern match.
