The Stone

See the natural beauty of Imperial Brown up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this porcelain unique.

Rich espresso-brown porcelain with angular white veining and brecciated fragments — a bold geological surface.

Optimum Imperial Brown recreates the complex, fragmented beauty of brecciated natural stone in porcelain. Its dark, rich brown-grey base resembles deep espresso, intricately patterned with a moderate to dense network of sharp, angular white to off-white veins that crisscross randomly. Embedded within the dark base are irregular, mottled fragments and patches ranging from warm coppery brown to darker chocolate brown, creating a genuine conglomerate or brecciated character. The polished finish brings out the complexity of the pattern — the sharp white veining, warm coppery fragments, and deep espresso base create a surface with extraordinary visual depth. Imperial Brown suits kitchens and spaces that value geological authenticity and rich, warm character. As porcelain stoneware, it handles hot pans, acidic foods, and heavy daily use without any damage. Manufactured in extra-large 1840 × 3300mm slabs from 100% natural raw materials. Supplied and installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Imperial Brown

What does Optimum Imperial Brown look like?
Imperial Brown has a dark, rich brown-grey base like espresso, with sharp, angular white to off-white veins crisscrossing randomly across the surface. Irregular fragments in warm coppery brown and chocolate brown are embedded within the base, creating a brecciated, conglomerate-like character. The polished finish brings out the complexity. It's a bold, geological surface with extraordinary depth.
What is a brecciated pattern?
In geology, breccia forms when fragments of rock are cemented together by mineral deposits. The result is a mosaic of angular fragments separated by veins of contrasting material. Imperial Brown recreates this effect — the irregular brown fragments separated by sharp white veining give it a genuinely geological character that's quite different from flowing marble veining.
What colour schemes work with Imperial Brown?
The warm espresso and coppery-brown tones pair naturally with rich, warm palettes — deep timber, brushed bronze hardware, warm leather, and earthy colour schemes. Cream or warm grey cabinetry provides lighter contrast. For a bolder scheme, dark olive or charcoal units continue the rich, grounded mood. Avoid cool blue-grey schemes that would clash.
Is Imperial Brown suitable for a bathroom?
Yes — the rich, warm tones create a luxurious, spa-like atmosphere. Porcelain handles moisture and bathroom products without staining or damage. The 12mm thickness works well for vanity tops and wall cladding. Pair with warm metals like brushed bronze and natural timber to enhance the warm, earthy character.
How durable is Imperial Brown for daily kitchen use?
Extremely durable. Optimum porcelain is one of the hardest kitchen surface materials available. It resists scratching, impact, heat, acids, and staining. Hot pans can be placed directly on the surface. Clean with warm water and a neutral detergent — no sealing or special treatments are ever required.

"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
