Frequently Asked

Questions About Silestone

What is Silestone and how is it different from other quartz worktops?
Silestone is a premium mineral surface manufactured by Cosentino in Almería, Spain. Unlike traditional quartz which relies heavily on crystalline silica, Silestone uses patented Hybriq+ technology that blends premium minerals with a minimum of 20 percent recycled materials. This makes it one of the most sustainable engineered surfaces on the market while delivering outstanding scratch, stain, and impact resistance backed by a 25-year warranty.
Does Silestone require sealing or special maintenance?
No. Silestone is a non-porous surface, which means it never needs sealing at any point during its lifetime. Daily maintenance is as simple as wiping with a damp microfibre cloth and a mild detergent. For stubborn marks such as dried-on food or limescale, a gentle application of a dilute bleach solution or a specialist quartz cleaner like Q-Action will restore the surface without any risk of damage.
What warranty does Silestone come with and what does it cover?
Every Silestone surface is covered by a comprehensive 25-year warranty from Cosentino, one of the longest in the industry. The warranty covers manufacturing defects and provides peace of mind that your worktop will maintain its structural integrity and appearance for decades. When installed by In2stone, you also benefit from our own workmanship guarantee covering the fabrication and fitting.
Is Silestone suitable for use in bathrooms as well as kitchens?
Absolutely. Silestone's non-porous composition makes it an excellent choice for bathroom vanities, shower walls, and bath surrounds because it resists moisture, soap residue, and limescale buildup. Many of our customers choose Silestone for both their kitchen and bathroom projects to create a cohesive design throughout their home, and the extensive colour range makes it easy to find the perfect tone for every room.
What is Hybriq+ technology and why does it matter?
Hybriq+ is Cosentino's patented manufacturing technology that dramatically reduces the crystalline silica content in Silestone to below 40 percent, and in Q10 ranges below 10 percent. Beyond the health and safety benefits for fabricators, the technology enables the use of at least 20 percent recycled materials, 99 percent recycled water, and 100 percent renewable electric energy in the manufacturing process. It represents a genuine commitment to sustainability without compromising on performance.
How many Silestone colours are available through In2stone?
In2stone currently offers over 55 Silestone colours spanning multiple collections including Eternal, Le Chic, Ethereal, Mythology, Nebula, Urban Crush, Loft, Raw, and Basiq. The range covers everything from classic marble-effect whites and dramatic dark veined designs to bold contemporary colours and earthy organic textures. We can help you choose the perfect colour during a free consultation at our Portsmouth showroom or in your home.
Can In2stone supply and install Silestone worktops with invisible joins?
Yes. Our experienced stonemasons specialise in templating, fabricating, and installing Silestone worktops with precision-cut joins that are virtually invisible to the eye. We use colour-matched adhesives and expert finishing techniques to ensure every seam blends seamlessly into the overall surface. From initial measurement through to final installation, every step is handled by our own team — never subcontracted.
How does the price of Silestone compare to natural stone worktops?
Silestone sits in the mid-to-premium price range for worktop surfaces. While it can be comparable in cost to mid-range natural granites and some marbles, it offers significant advantages in terms of zero maintenance, no sealing requirements, superior stain resistance, and a 25-year warranty. When you factor in the lifetime cost of ownership, Silestone often represents better long-term value than natural stone alternatives that require regular sealing and more careful maintenance.
