The Stone

See the natural beauty of Charcoal Soapstone up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Very dark charcoal base with intricate white web-like veining and matte finish evoking natural soapstone.

Silestone Charcoal Soapstone captures the character of natural soapstone in an engineered format. The very dark charcoal grey base varies subtly in tone, appearing almost black in places, while intricate white or very light grey veining weaves across the surface in random web-like patterns. The veining ranges from fine thread-like formations to medium-thick lines, creating a moderate density pattern with striking contrast against the dark background. The matte or honed finish is essential to the soapstone illusion — natural soapstone has an inherently soft, non-reflective surface quality that Charcoal Soapstone replicates convincingly. A very subtle fine granular texture within the dark base adds further authenticity. The combination of dark base, white veining, and matte finish creates a surface that feels both dramatic and organic — sophisticated without the maintenance demands of natural soapstone. Part of Silestone's Eternal collection, manufactured in Almería, Spain with Hybriq+® technology. Minimum 20% recycled content, 100% renewable energy. Non-porous, stain-resistant despite the matte finish. Available in jumbo 327 × 159 cm slabs with a 25-year warranty. Installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Charcoal Soapstone

Is Charcoal Soapstone actually made from soapstone?
No. Charcoal Soapstone is an engineered Silestone surface that captures the visual character of natural soapstone — the dark base, the white veining, and the matte finish. Natural soapstone is relatively soft, scratches easily, and requires regular oiling. This Silestone version provides the look without any of those maintenance requirements, and it carries a 25-year warranty.
What kitchen designs suit Charcoal Soapstone?
Charcoal Soapstone works beautifully in farmhouse-modern, industrial, and contemporary kitchens. The matte dark surface pairs naturally with white Shaker cabinets for a classic contrast, or with warm timber for a rustic-modern feel. Dark cabinetry creates a tonal, moody kitchen. The soapstone aesthetic particularly suits kitchens with apron-front sinks and traditional hardware.
Does the matte finish on Charcoal Soapstone show marks?
The matte finish is significantly more practical than a polished dark surface. Fingerprints and water spots are far less visible. The web-like white veining also helps disguise minor kitchen marks. Lighter residue like flour or limescale will show against the dark base, but a daily wipe keeps it pristine.
Where is Charcoal Soapstone manufactured?
Manufactured by Cosentino in Almería, Spain using Hybriq+® technology. The composition includes minimum 20% recycled materials and production uses 100% renewable electricity. It carries NSF food safety certification and a 25-year manufacturer warranty.
How do I maintain Charcoal Soapstone?
Wipe daily with a damp microfibre cloth and mild detergent. Unlike natural soapstone, which requires periodic oiling, this surface needs no treatment whatsoever. The non-porous composition means nothing can penetrate or stain the surface. For stubborn marks, use a non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid scouring pads.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
