The Stone

See the natural beauty of Marengo up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Style:

Plain Matte Industrial

Deep uniform charcoal grey with fine stippled texture and matte finish for a solid understated dark anchor.

Silestone Marengo presents a consistent deep charcoal grey across the entire slab — darker than Gris Expo and very close to the bottom of the grey scale without reaching true black. There is no veining, no distinct pattern, and no prominent speckling. On close inspection, a subtle fine granular or stippled texture is visible, and the matte or honed finish prevents any reflectivity. Marengo is the quiet workhorse of dark surfaces. Where Et Noir and Romantic Ash make dramatic statements with their veining, Marengo simply provides a deep, solid dark surface that grounds a kitchen without drawing attention to itself. The fine stippled texture gives it just enough material character to feel like stone rather than paint. It anchors a room through presence and depth rather than pattern. Part of Silestone's Basiq collection, manufactured in Almería, Spain with Hybriq+® technology. Minimum 20% recycled content, 100% renewable energy. Non-porous, stain-resistant, no sealing required. Supplied in jumbo 327 × 159 cm slabs with a 25-year warranty. Installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Marengo

How does Marengo differ from Gris Expo and Night Tebas18?
All three are plain dark greys, but they occupy different points on the scale. Gris Expo is the lightest — a mid-to-dark charcoal. Marengo is deeper and darker. Night Tebas18 is the darkest, bordering on off-black. If you want a solid dark surface that is clearly very dark but not quite black, Marengo is the one.
What cabinet colours complement Marengo?
White or pale grey cabinets create maximum contrast with the deep charcoal worktop. Natural timber in oak or walnut adds warmth. For a bold, moody kitchen, dark green or navy cabinets create a rich tonal depth with the dark surface. Matte black or brushed brass hardware both work well with the matte charcoal finish.
Is Marengo practical for daily kitchen use?
Yes. The matte finish hides fingerprints and water marks far better than polished dark surfaces. The deep charcoal tone does show lighter residue like flour or limescale more visibly than lighter surfaces, but regular wiping keeps it clean. The non-porous composition means nothing can stain permanently.
Where is Marengo produced?
Manufactured by Cosentino in Almería, Spain using Hybriq+® technology. Minimum 20% recycled materials, 100% renewable electricity, 99% recycled water. Marengo carries NSF food safety certification and a 25-year warranty.
Does Marengo need special cleaning?
No special cleaning. Wipe daily with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then optionally buff dry with a clean cloth for the cleanest look. The matte finish is far more forgiving than polished dark surfaces. Avoid abrasive pads that could alter the matte character. No sealing is ever needed.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
