The Stone

See the natural beauty of Luccia up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartzite unique.

Brilliantly white quartzite with silver-grey veining that whispers of Italian marble — the elegance of Carrara with the strength of quartzite.

Luccia quartzite is the Italian marble look achieved in one of nature's toughest materials. Quarried in Brazil and also known as Mont Lucia Quartzite, this pristinely elegant stone features a brilliant white base through which graceful, flowing veins of soft silver-grey trace gentle, organic paths across the polished surface. The result is a timelessly classic aesthetic that many people mistake for premium Italian marble — until they learn it has the hardness and resilience of genuine quartzite. With a dense, non-porous structure and Mohs 7 hardness, Luccia offers everything marble cannot: genuine resistance to acidic kitchen spills, reliable scratch protection from knives, and heat tolerance that means hot pans can be placed directly on the surface without scorching. It requires annual sealing to maintain optimal stain protection, but the day-to-day experience is dramatically more forgiving than living with real marble. In2stone loves recommending Luccia to clients who walk into a showroom saying 'I want marble but I'm worried about the maintenance.' Our craftsmen's experience with marble-aesthetic quartzites means we understand how to position the veining and join the slabs to maintain that flowing, Italian quality across the entire worktop span.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Luccia

Does Luccia quartzite really look like Italian marble?
Yes — Luccia's brilliant white base with flowing silver-grey veining creates a remarkably convincing marble aesthetic. Many people cannot distinguish it from premium Italian Carrara or Statuario marble at first glance. The key difference is beneath the surface: Luccia is genuine quartzite with Mohs 7 hardness, meaning it far outperforms marble in scratch resistance, acid resistance, and overall kitchen durability.
What makes Luccia quartzite better than actual marble for kitchens?
Luccia delivers the marble look with dramatically better kitchen performance. Unlike marble (Mohs 3-5), Luccia's Mohs 7 hardness means it resists knife scratches. Unlike marble, it won't etch from lemon juice, vinegar, or wine. It handles hot pans without damage. Its dense, non-porous structure provides better stain resistance. You get the visual elegance of marble without the constant anxiety about damaging it.
What kitchen styles suit Luccia quartzite best?
Luccia's classic white-with-grey-veining aesthetic works in virtually any kitchen style. It's perfect for classic Shaker kitchens with soft-toned cabinetry, elegant in transitional designs with mixed metals, and stunning in sleek contemporary spaces with handleless white or grey units. It's also a natural fit for French country, Hampton-style, and coastal kitchens where the marble aesthetic is traditionally desired.
Where is Luccia quartzite quarried?
Luccia is quarried in Brazil and is also known as Mont Lucia Quartzite. Brazil's quartzite deposits formed during the Precambrian era through intense metamorphic processes. The white base and grey veining result from the recrystallisation of quartz-rich sandstone with mineral trace inclusions creating the delicate grey patterning.
How do you maintain Luccia quartzite's white appearance?
Seal annually with a quality impregnating stone sealer — this creates an invisible barrier against staining that is particularly important for white worktops. Clean daily with warm water and pH-neutral soap. Blot coloured spills (wine, coffee, turmeric) promptly before they sit on the surface. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners. With this simple routine, Luccia's pristine white beauty is maintained for decades.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
