The Stone

See the natural beauty of Tropical Blue up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this marble unique.

From Brazil's Espírito Santo region, Tropical Blue is a wonderfully serene marble where incredibly fluid, wave-like bands drift across an icy sky-blue surface.

Tropical Blue is an absolutely breathtaking and wonderfully serene marble, capturing a fabulously soft, icy sky-blue to pale cornflower-blue background that genuinely soothes the eye. Its gorgeously cool and luminous surface is magnificently swept by incredibly fluid, gentle wave-like bands. These elegant patterns weave through soft chalky-white, silvery-grey, and even subtle hints of darker, crystalline denim-blue, creating a wonderfully calming and elegantly flowing character that feels both tranquil and dynamic. This stone is a spectacular and deeply soothing choice, designed to bring remarkable luxury to any space.

Quarried in the Espírito Santo region of Brazil, Tropical Blue marble carries the geological story of its formation over millions of years. As a metamorphic rock, it began as limestone, transformed deep within the earth by intense heat and pressure. The primary mineral, calcite, recrystallised into the dense, interlocking mosaic we see today, with the subtle variations in its exquisite blue and grey tones arising from accessory minerals embedded within its structure. We select only the finest blocks, ensuring the purity and unique character of each slab from its Brazilian source.

When crafting with Tropical Blue, we approach each project with the passion and precision it deserves, whether it's for luxury kitchen worktops, a calming bathroom vanity, or a striking splashback. We understand that marble, while beautiful, is a softer stone than granite, and its crystalline nature means it benefits from careful sealing to enhance its natural stain resistance. While it handles heat well, its surfaces can be susceptible to etching from acids or scratching from sharp objects. We hand-template every piece and discuss all aspects of care with you, from durable finishes like honed to our honest advice on daily maintenance, ensuring your Tropical Blue worktop remains a cherished centrepiece for years to come.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Tropical Blue

What makes Tropical Blue marble visually unique?
Tropical Blue marble stands out with its fabulously soft, icy sky-blue to pale cornflower-blue background. Its gorgeously luminous surface is magnificently swept by incredibly fluid, gentle wave-like bands of soft chalky-white, silvery-grey, and subtle hints of darker denim-blue, creating a uniquely calming and flowing character.
What kitchen styles pair well with Tropical Blue marble?
Its serene blue and elegantly flowing patterns make Tropical Blue an excellent choice for modern, coastal, or minimalist kitchen designs, where it can serve as a deeply soothing focal point. It complements clean lines and light-coloured cabinetry beautifully, enhancing a tranquil and sophisticated atmosphere.
How durable is Tropical Blue marble and what care does it require?
As a natural marble, Tropical Blue has a Mohs hardness of 3-5, making it softer than granite or quartzite and susceptible to scratches. It's also acid-sensitive, meaning acidic liquids can etch the surface. We recommend regular sealing to enhance stain resistance, prompt cleaning of spills, and using chopping boards and trivets to protect your beautiful worktop.
Where does Tropical Blue marble originate from?
Tropical Blue marble is quarried in the Espírito Santo region of Brazil. This area is known for its rich geological formations, where limestone underwent metamorphic processes over millennia, transforming into the unique and beautiful marble varieties found there.
Is Tropical Blue marble a practical choice for a busy kitchen compared to other materials?
While stunning, Tropical Blue marble requires more diligent care than harder materials like granite or quartzite due to its relative softness and porosity. For busy kitchens, a honed finish can be a more practical choice as it helps to mask etching and minor scratches. We believe its unparalleled beauty makes the extra care worthwhile, and our team will guide you on ensuring its longevity.
