The Stone

See the natural beauty of Midnight up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Very dark charcoal-to-black quartz with bold white diagonal veining from the Ocean collection.

Quartzforms Midnight opens the Ocean collection — a range inspired by the power and depth of maritime environments. The surface presents a very dark charcoal-to-black base with a subtle fine granular texture across its smooth finish. A prominent bold diagonal vein commands attention, composed of clustered intricate networks of bright white to off-white material. Numerous thinner thread-like veins branch out from the main vein and extend across the slab with both linear and organic movement in moderate density. The high-contrast veining against the deep background creates a dramatically striking aesthetic.

Midnight embodies the darkest hour of the ocean — the deep black water before dawn, broken by the white-capped movement of waves. The bold primary vein acts as the central dramatic gesture, around which the finer veining creates atmospheric complexity. The fine granular texture across the dark base prevents it from reading as a flat solid, adding the subtle depth of deep water. The polished finish enhances the dramatic white-on-black contrast, making every vein crisp and vivid. This is a surface that makes a powerful first impression.

In2Stone recommends Midnight as a dramatic statement piece — particularly effective on a kitchen island or bar where the bold diagonal vein can flow across the full length. White or pale grey cabinetry creates maximum contrast; matt black or charcoal cabinetry creates a tonal, enveloping atmosphere. Hardware in chrome, brushed nickel, or matt black reinforces the monochromatic drama.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Midnight

What collection is Midnight from?
The Ocean collection — a Quartzforms range inspired by maritime environments and ocean forces. Midnight represents the deepest, darkest ocean — the colour of deep water under a moonless sky, broken by white wave-like veining.
How does Midnight compare to Nirvana?
Both are dark surfaces with bold white veining. Nirvana (Ecotone New Era) has a charcoal base with a matte finish — slightly lighter, more sustainable. Midnight (Ocean) has a deeper charcoal-to-black base with a polished finish — darker, more dramatic. Nirvana has branching veining; Midnight has a dominant central vein with radiating branches.
Will water spots show on the dark surface?
The polished dark surface can show water spots, fingerprints, and dust under directional lighting. However, the bold white veining breaks up these marks visually. A quick wipe with a damp microfibre cloth keeps the surface looking pristine. The granular texture also helps diffuse marks.
Is Midnight from the sustainable Ecotone range?
No — Midnight is from the standard Ocean collection, not the Ecotone ranges. It is manufactured using Quartzforms' standard Bretonstone process with conventional quartz and resin composition. It carries the full 25-year warranty and standard performance ratings.
What edge profiles suit a dramatic surface?
Straight or pencil-round edges maintain Midnight's modern, dramatic character. Bullnose edges soften the impact. Ogee or bevelled edges add traditional detail. In2Stone's team can recommend the best profile for your kitchen design — they fabricate all edge profiles in-house.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
