The Stone

See the natural beauty of Nautilus up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Colour:

Grey Cream Brown

Warm mid-grey quartz with fine multicoloured speckling and gentle mottling from the Fossil collection.

Quartzforms Nautilus is part of the Fossil collection — named for the ancient chambered shell that has remained virtually unchanged for 500 million years. The surface presents a uniform warm mid-grey base with a subtle taupe undertone. The matte or honed finish has no significant sheen. A finely granular texture is composed of evenly distributed minute dark grey speckles and sparser very fine off-white flecks. Very faint diffuse irregularly shaped areas of slightly lighter warm grey mottling are sporadically present, creating minimal organic movement without defined veining. The character is subtle and understated — a finely textured near-solid with gentle almost imperceptible tonal variations.

Nautilus occupies a beautifully quiet position in the Quartzforms range. The warm mid-grey with taupe undertone creates a colour that is neither warm nor cool but occupies both simultaneously — like the nautilus shell itself, which presents warm and cool tones depending on the light. The dual speckling — dark grey AND off-white flecks — creates genuine complexity at the micro level, giving the surface substance and depth that single-colour speckling cannot match. The faint lighter mottling adds atmospheric breath without creating anything as visible as pattern.

In2Stone recommends Nautilus for clients who appreciate surfaces with quiet complexity — materials that reward close inspection but never demand attention. The warm mid-grey works with every kitchen style and colour. Cream cabinetry brings out the taupe warmth; white creates clean contrast; timber adds natural depth. Hardware in brushed nickel or matt black both complement. Nautilus is the worktop for clients who believe quality speaks softly.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Nautilus

What is a nautilus?
The nautilus is a deep-sea cephalopod with a beautiful chambered shell — one of nature's oldest surviving designs, virtually unchanged for 500 million years. The surface captures the nautilus's quality of quiet, timeless sophistication — an ancient design that remains perfect.
What creates the dual speckling?
Minute dark grey speckles AND sparser fine off-white flecks are both present in the warm mid-grey base. This dual-colour speckling creates more visual complexity than single-colour flecking, adding genuine depth at the micro level.
Is the mottling visible?
Very faint — sporadically present areas of slightly lighter warm grey create minimal organic movement. The mottling is almost imperceptible, functioning as atmospheric variation rather than visible pattern. It prevents the surface from feeling completely static.
How does Nautilus compare to Titan?
Both are warm mid-tone near-solid surfaces. Titan (Extreme) is a greige with fine granular texture — more neutral. Nautilus (Fossil) has warmer taupe undertones with dual speckling and faint mottling — more textural complexity. Nautilus has slightly more visual interest.
Is warm mid-grey practical?
Among the most practical worktop colours available — mid-tone grey hides both light and dark marks effectively. The warm taupe undertone and fine speckling further camouflage everyday kitchen debris. The matte finish eliminates fingerprint visibility.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
