The Stone

See the natural beauty of Nacre up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Very pale cool grey quartz with delicate frosty white veining and fine granular texture from the Fossil collection.

Quartzforms Nacre opens the Fossil collection — named for the iridescent mother-of-pearl lining found inside seashells. The surface presents a dominant very pale cool grey base subtly patterned with delicate wispy veining. The veins are a slightly lighter frosty white, appearing in fine to medium thicknesses with random organic movement. A very fine granular texture is visible throughout the material, contributing to the smooth low-sheen finish. The character is an understated marble-effect — subtle and sophisticated.

Nacre — the French word for mother-of-pearl — delivers the luminous quality its name implies. The frosty white veining on the very pale cool grey base creates reverse-contrast movement where lighter elements flow through a slightly darker foundation. This creates a surface that feels illuminated from within — the veining appears to glow rather than contrast. The fine granular texture adds material depth throughout, and the low-sheen finish captures light softly without creating harsh reflections. The overall effect is of something precious and refined.

In2Stone recommends Nacre for clients who want the quietest possible marble-effect with a luminous, precious quality. The cool pale grey palette suits Scandinavian, minimalist, and modern classic kitchens. White cabinetry creates a seamless light scheme; pale grey adds tonal depth. Hardware in brushed nickel or chrome maintains the cool luminous quality. Nacre is for clients who notice the difference between ordinary and extraordinary.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Nacre

What does Nacre mean?
Nacre is the French word for mother-of-pearl — the iridescent inner lining of certain seashells. The Quartzforms surface captures the luminous, precious quality of nacre, with frosty white veining that appears to glow against the pale grey base.
What is the Fossil collection?
The Fossil collection is a Quartzforms range inspired by natural organic materials and geological heritage. The collection names — Nacre, Seashell — reference marine fossils and natural shell formations, evoking millions of years of natural history.
How subtle is the veining?
Very subtle — delicate wispy veining in frosty white is only slightly lighter than the pale grey base. The low-contrast effect creates luminous movement rather than graphic pattern. From distance, Nacre reads as an almost-solid pale grey with gentle internal glow.
Does the granular texture affect the feel?
The very fine granular texture is visual rather than tactile — the surface feels smooth to the touch. The texture adds material depth and natural stone authenticity that perfectly smooth surfaces lack, while maintaining the easy-clean properties of polished quartz.
How does Nacre compare to Michelangelo?
Both are pale marble-effects with subtle veining. Michelangelo (Veined) has greige veining on a cool off-white base — slightly warmer tones. Nacre (Fossil) has frosty white veining on a pale cool grey base with granular texture — cooler and more luminous. Nacre is the cooler, more ethereal option.

"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
