The Stone

See the natural beauty of Jade River up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this granite unique.

Colour:

Green White

Brazilian exotic granite with bold green veining from mint to forest, sliced through with bright white sections.

Jade River granite is a commanding Brazilian exotic that makes no attempt at subtlety. The slab presents a rich, dynamic composition dominated by a spectrum of green hues — from light mint and sage through to deep forest green and greenish-grey — interwoven with striking bright white and off-white sections that cut through the colour field like light through a forest canopy. Dense diagonal veining traverses the surface, varying from fine thread-like lines to bold, irregular bands, occasionally punctuated by darker charcoal or near-black accents. The highly polished finish amplifies every colour shift, creating a smooth, lustrous surface that commands attention.

Geologically, many stones traded as granite in the green colour spectrum are actually gneisses or migmatites — metamorphic rocks with even greater structural complexity than true granite. Whatever its precise classification, Jade River shares the practical strengths of the granite family: Mohs hardness of 6–7 providing excellent scratch resistance, outstanding heat resistance, and a dense mineral structure that responds well to annual sealing. The vivid green colouring comes from concentrations of chlorite, epidote, and other green mineral groups formed under immense geological pressure.

In2Stone considers Jade River a statement stone — designed for homeowners who want their worktop to be the centrepiece of the room. It works most effectively as a kitchen island or standalone feature where the dramatic veining can be appreciated in full. Pair it with simple white or light grey cabinetry to let the stone speak, or with dark timber for a scheme that feels grounded in nature. Each slab is genuinely unrepeatable, and the variation between slabs makes personal selection essential.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Jade River

What shades of green appear in Jade River granite?
Jade River spans a full spectrum of greens — from light mint and soft sage through to deep forest green and greenish-grey, all flowing together in bold diagonal veins. Bright white and off-white sections break through the green fields, and occasional dark charcoal accents add further depth. No two slabs show exactly the same arrangement of these colours.
Is Jade River actually a true granite?
Commercially, it is sold as granite, but geologically, many green stones in this category are gneisses or migmatites — metamorphic rocks formed under extreme heat and pressure. This distinction does not affect kitchen performance. These metamorphic stones are typically equal to or harder than true granite, with excellent heat and scratch resistance.
What cabinetry works best with a bold green granite?
Simplicity is key — let the stone be the star. White, off-white, or light grey cabinetry provides clean contrast that makes the green veining sing. Dark timber in walnut or oak creates a warm, nature-inspired scheme. Avoid busy or brightly coloured cabinets that would compete with the stone's drama. Simple hardware in brushed nickel or matte black completes the look.
Where is Jade River granite quarried?
Jade River comes from Brazil, which produces some of the most visually dramatic and geologically diverse exotic granites in the world. Brazilian quarries yield large slabs from complex geological formations, which is why stones like Jade River display such intense colour variation and intricate veining patterns.
How do I maintain a polished green granite like Jade River?
The same routine as any granite — daily wipe with warm water and a pH-neutral stone cleaner, annual sealing with a quality impregnating sealer, and prompt blotting of spills. The polished finish is generally easier to clean than textured alternatives because it has fewer surface irregularities for dirt to settle into. Avoid acidic or bleach-based cleaners that can cloud the polish over time.
★★★★★
"We decided to get bespoke granite work tops for our new kitchen and have to say that we are over the moon with them. From the outset, Ian was very professional when selecting the stone, he listened to what we wanted, went through all of the possibilities that we could have for our worktops and went through the process in detail once we had made a decision. The templateing and fitting was carried out by an incredibly professional and helpful team run by Kev, who knew exactly what they were doing and just got on and made my kitchen look amazing. I would highly recommend In2stone for a helpful, knowledgeable and professional service from start to finish."
