The Stone

See the natural beauty of Calacatta Matarazzo up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this porcelain unique.

Creamy off-white porcelain with dense, fractured grey veining — a richly complex calacatta marble recreation.

Optimum Calacatta Matarazzo takes the calacatta concept and adds intricate complexity. Its creamy off-white base is densely covered by a fractured, random network of veining that ranges from fine, thread-like lines to broad, cloud-like formations. The veins are predominantly cool grey, accented with distinct areas of warmer light beige-grey that prevent the pattern feeling monotone. The dynamic, non-uniform distribution creates genuine visual movement across the entire surface. The polished finish gives Matarazzo a subtle sheen that brings out the tonal depth of the layered veining. This is a more intricate, busier interpretation than Calacatta Supreme or Calacatta Gold — the fractured character gives it a geological authenticity that simpler marble patterns lack. As porcelain stoneware, it's completely heat-proof, acid-resistant, and maintenance-free. Manufactured in extra-large 1840 × 3300mm slabs from 100% natural raw materials. Supplied and installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Calacatta Matarazzo

What does Optimum Calacatta Matarazzo look like?
Matarazzo has a creamy off-white base densely patterned with fractured, random veining. The veins range from fine threads to broad, cloud-like formations in cool grey, accented with warmer beige-grey areas. The polished finish has a subtle sheen. It's one of the more intricate, complex marble recreations in the Optimum range.
How does Matarazzo compare to Calacatta Supreme?
Both are calacatta-inspired designs on off-white bases, but they differ in veining character. Calacatta Supreme has more structured, flowing diagonal veining with a classic, composed feel. Matarazzo has denser, more fractured, random veining that feels more complex and geological. Supreme is more classic; Matarazzo is more intricate.
Is the busy veining pattern practical for a kitchen?
Actually, busy patterns are among the most practical for kitchen use. The dense, varied veining disguises crumbs, minor marks, and water spots far better than plain or lightly veined surfaces. The pattern keeps working for you visually, even in the middle of meal preparation.
What kitchen styles suit Calacatta Matarazzo?
Matarazzo works well in traditional, transitional, and luxury contemporary kitchens. The complex marble character suits settings with detailed cabinetry, crown mouldings, and rich materials. It also works in cleaner contemporary schemes when paired with simple, handleless units that let the worktop provide the visual interest.
Does porcelain chip more easily than quartz?
Porcelain edges can be more vulnerable to impact than quartz edges if struck sharply. However, Optimum porcelain is manufactured to extremely high standards and is hard-wearing in normal kitchen use. Professional fabrication and installation by In2Stone ensures clean, well-finished edges that minimise any risk.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
