The Stone

See the natural beauty of Gritti up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Colour:

White Grey Brown

Style:

Terrazzo Speckled Polished

Bright white terrazzo-effect quartz with multicoloured aggregate chips in charcoal, olive, reddish-brown, and peach tones.

Quartzforms Gritti is part of the Terrazzo collection — a range that reinterprets the centuries-old Venetian flooring tradition in engineered quartz. Named after the historic Gritti Palace on Venice's Grand Canal, the surface presents a clean bright white base densely embedded with a random array of irregularly shaped aggregate chips. These fragments vary from fine specks to medium pieces in a diverse palette — charcoal grey, olive green-grey, warm reddish-brown, light beige, subtle peach-pink, and translucent white. There is no veining; the pattern is entirely composed of visible granular inclusions. The smooth polished or honed finish creates a classic busy yet harmonious terrazzo aesthetic.

Gritti captures the authentic character of traditional Venetian terrazzo — the multi-coloured aggregate against a white matrix is a direct reference to the flooring found in palazzos, churches, and public buildings across Venice for centuries. The diversity of chip colours gives the surface genuine visual richness — each fragment catches light differently, creating a surface that shifts subtly as you move around it. The random distribution means no two slabs are identical in their chip placement, adding an element of uniqueness to each installation.

In2Stone recommends Gritti for clients who want a worktop with genuine heritage character and visual liveliness. The terrazzo pattern is busy enough to hide everyday marks and crumbs effectively, making it exceptionally practical for family kitchens. It pairs with white, cream, or warm timber cabinetry to complement the multicoloured chips. Hardware in matt black or brushed brass provides clean contrast against the busy surface.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Gritti

What is the Terrazzo collection?
A Quartzforms range that reinterprets traditional Venetian terrazzo in engineered quartz. Real terrazzo is made by embedding marble or stone chips into cement and polishing the surface — a technique dating back 500 years in Venice. The Quartzforms Terrazzo collection captures this aesthetic with the superior performance of quartz.
What colours are in the aggregate chips?
Charcoal grey, olive green-grey, warm reddish-brown, light beige, subtle peach-pink, and translucent white — a diverse palette that creates genuine visual richness. The variety of colours means the surface has depth and interest that single-colour chip designs cannot achieve.
Is terrazzo-effect practical for kitchens?
Extremely practical — the busy multicoloured pattern is one of the most forgiving designs for everyday kitchen use. Crumbs, water spots, fingerprints, and minor marks are effectively camouflaged by the aggregate pattern. It is a superb choice for busy family kitchens where low-maintenance visual appeal matters.
Why is it named Gritti?
After the Gritti Palace — a 15th-century palazzo on Venice's Grand Canal, now one of the city's most prestigious hotels. The name connects the surface to the Venetian heritage of terrazzo flooring and the aristocratic elegance of Venice's greatest architectural interiors.
How does quartz terrazzo compare to real terrazzo?
Visually very similar — both feature aggregate chips in a matrix base. But quartz terrazzo is non-porous, never needs sealing, resists staining, and carries a 25-year warranty. Real terrazzo requires regular sealing, can stain, and may crack. The quartz version delivers the aesthetic without the maintenance.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
