Pretoria

Pretoria granite is the lighter counterpart to its sibling Pretoria Black, quarried from the same Rustenburg district of South Africa's Northwest Province. Where Pretoria Black presents a dramatic dark base with bold silver veining, Pretoria granite takes the opposite approach — a light cool grey base with fine granular speckling and moderate-density veining in medium to dark grey. The veins range from fine thread-like tendrils to slightly blurred medium bands, creating a gentle organic movement with a soft diagonal flow across the surface. The polished finish brings out subtle reflections that highlight the interplay between speckling and veining.

Pretoria occupies an understated, sophisticated position in the granite world. It is neither busy nor plain — the balance of fine speckling and gentle veining creates a surface that reads as calm and refined from a distance while revealing genuine mineral complexity close up. The Rustenburg quarries, situated on the Bushveld Igneous Complex, produce stone with consistent density and structural integrity. Pretoria carries these qualities: Mohs 6–7 hardness, very low porosity, excellent heat resistance, and the reliable performance that comes from deep igneous formation.
