The Stone

See the natural beauty of Patagonia up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this granite unique.

Brazilian exotic granite with a bold fractured composition of cream, charcoal, rusty orange, and golden-beige.

Patagonia granite is a Brazilian exotic that lives up to its evocative name — a stone as wild and dramatic as the windswept landscapes it references. The slab presents a highly dynamic, fragmented pattern dominated by large irregular patches of creamy off-white interspersed with extensive areas of warm charcoal, deep brown-grey, and substantial inclusions of rusty orange and golden-beige. The lighter sections carry fine angular veining in warm grey, while the darker and orange-toned regions display a dense intricate network of irregular veins, creating a dramatic fractured appearance reminiscent of a brecciated rock formation.

This is a stone that tells its geological history openly. The fractured, brecciated character indicates the rock has been through tectonic forces that broke and re-cemented it — fragments of different minerals and rock types forced together under immense pressure and heat, then polished by nature over millions of years before human hands finished the job. The result is a surface where no two sections look alike, and every slab is genuinely unrepeatable. Despite this visual complexity, Patagonia delivers granite's standard performance: Mohs 6–7 hardness, excellent heat resistance, and the structural density that comes from deep igneous crystallisation.

In2Stone positions Patagonia as a statement stone for clients who want their kitchen to make a lasting impression. It is best used as a focal feature — an island or bar where the fractured composition can be fully appreciated against simple, neutral cabinetry. Dark charcoal or warm grey units provide the best backdrop. This is a stone that does not share the spotlight.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Patagonia

What creates the fractured pattern in Patagonia granite?
The brecciated appearance indicates the stone has been through tectonic forces that fractured and re-cemented it — different mineral fragments and rock types were forced together under extreme pressure and heat over geological time. The result is a surface where each patch of colour and pattern represents a different fragment of the original rock, naturally welded together into a solid, wearable slab.
How much does Patagonia granite vary between slabs?
Enormously. The fractured, brecciated composition means every slab has a unique arrangement of cream, charcoal, orange, and golden patches. The balance of colours, the size and distribution of fragments, and the intensity of the veining differ dramatically from one slab to the next. Personal slab selection is absolutely essential.
Is Patagonia granite suitable as a full kitchen worktop?
It depends on the space and your design confidence. In a large kitchen with neutral cabinetry, a full Patagonia worktop can be breathtaking. In smaller or busier kitchens, the intense pattern may be better suited to a feature island or bar section. In2Stone can advise on the best approach for your specific layout.
Where is Patagonia granite quarried?
Patagonia granite comes from Brazil, which produces many of the world's most visually dramatic natural stones. The ancient geological formations in Brazil — some over a billion years old — create the unusual mineral conditions and tectonic histories responsible for the fractured, multi-toned character of stones like Patagonia.
Does the complex pattern affect the stone's structural integrity?
No. Despite its fractured visual appearance, the stone has been naturally re-cemented under immense geological pressure into a solid, cohesive mass. It performs structurally as a single material — standard granite hardness, heat resistance, and durability. The fractured look is purely visual; the stone is entirely sound for kitchen use.
★★★★★
"We decided to get bespoke granite work tops for our new kitchen and have to say that we are over the moon with them. From the outset, Ian was very professional when selecting the stone, he listened to what we wanted, went through all of the possibilities that we could have for our worktops and went through the process in detail once we had made a decision. The templateing and fitting was carried out by an incredibly professional and helpful team run by Kev, who knew exactly what they were doing and just got on and made my kitchen look amazing. I would highly recommend In2stone for a helpful, knowledgeable and professional service from start to finish."
