We love how its surface is heavily characterised by incredibly dense, fine, and complex granular, tightly packed crystalline textures. This gorgeously matte, strongly unified stone is gently interrupted by only softly scattered, incredibly subtle, faint lighter grey fossil-like fragments and gentle tonal variations, intentionally without any distinct, contrasting veining. This magnificent stone originates from the renowned Burdur region of Turkey, an area celebrated for its rich geological heritage. Like all marbles, Tundra Grey Honed began its life as limestone or dolostone, transformed deep within the Earth by immense heat and pressure. This metamorphic process caused the calcite crystals to recrystallise into the dense, interlocking mosaic we see today, with accessory minerals like graphite contributing to its distinctive mid-grey colour palette.
