The Stone

Speckled Natural Polished

Indian green granite with bold burgundy mineral clusters and olive banding across a sage-green polished base.

Tropical Green granite comes from the Rajasthan or South India quarrying regions — and it is one of the most chromatically complex green stones in the In2Stone collection. The slab presents a base of muted sage green and pale olive green interspersed with areas of lighter yellowish-green. A moderately dense granular pattern flows with subtle diagonal direction, characterised by broad irregular bands of darker olive green and warm brown-grey. Scattered throughout are bold clusters of deep reddish-brown and burgundy particles. Tiny black speckles appear ubiquitously across the surface, and the polished finish reveals the full depth of this unusual colour palette.

Tropical Green takes the green granite concept further than Surf Green — where Surf Green presents a gentle sage-and-olive palette, Tropical Green adds vivid burgundy-red mineral clusters that create a genuinely tropical chromatic intensity. The combination of green, brown, and deep red evokes tropical forests, rainforest geology, and the rich mineral diversity of India's ancient Precambrian formations. The diagonal flow adds subtle directional energy, and the tiny black speckles provide a unifying texture across the varied colour zones. Performance is standard granite: Mohs 6–7 hardness, excellent heat resistance, and dense crystalline structure.

In2Stone recommends Tropical Green for clients who want to bring genuine natural colour intensity into their kitchen. It is a bold choice that works best as a feature element — a statement island or bar — in kitchens with neutral surrounding surfaces. Cream, warm white, and dark timber cabinetry complement the stone's natural palette, and hardware in brushed brass or antique bronze echoes the warm mineral tones.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Tropical Green

How does Tropical Green differ from Surf Green?
Both are Indian green granites, but Tropical Green is more chromatically intense. It has bolder burgundy-red mineral clusters, a wider range of green tones including yellowish-green, and a more complex overall palette. Surf Green is gentler and more restrained; Tropical Green is more vivid and dramatic.
What creates the burgundy-red clusters?
The deep reddish-brown and burgundy particles are likely garnet crystals — a common accessory mineral in certain Indian granite formations. Their bold colour creates vivid focal points against the green base, adding chromatic complexity that is unusual in the granite market.
Is Tropical Green suitable for a full kitchen?
The intense colour palette can be overwhelming across every surface. It works most effectively as a feature element — a statement island or single worktop run — with simpler neutral surfaces elsewhere. In large kitchens with restrained cabinetry, broader use can work if the surrounding design supports it.
What kitchen styles suit Tropical Green?
Nature-inspired, biophilic, and eclectic designs suit it best. It works alongside natural materials — timber, woven textures, botanical elements — and complements warm metallic hardware. It can also add unexpected colour to contemporary kitchens with otherwise neutral palettes.
Does Tropical Green require special maintenance?
No — standard granite care applies regardless of the unusual colour. Annual sealing, daily cleaning with warm water and pH-neutral soap. The busy multicoloured pattern is practical, as it conceals everyday marks effectively.
★★★★★
"We decided to get bespoke granite work tops for our new kitchen and have to say that we are over the moon with them. From the outset, Ian was very professional when selecting the stone, he listened to what we wanted, went through all of the possibilities that we could have for our worktops and went through the process in detail once we had made a decision. The templateing and fitting was carried out by an incredibly professional and helpful team run by Kev, who knew exactly what they were doing and just got on and made my kitchen look amazing. I would highly recommend In2stone for a helpful, knowledgeable and professional service from start to finish."
