The Stone

See the natural beauty of Medicea (Book-Matched) up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

A dramatic white quartz with sweeping veins of gold and blue-grey — the most colourful and decorative book-matched design in the range.

Medicea is the showpiece of the Cullifords Quartz collection. Its white base carries striking diagonal veining that contains both warm gold and cool blue-grey tones — an unusual combination that gives the surface exceptional visual richness. The veins form large, dramatic cluster formations with intricate internal detail, including small fragments and bubble-like structures within the wider bands. The book-matched pattern creates symmetrical mirror-image veining across the slab, adding an architectural, tailored quality. This is a surface designed to impress, best suited to large kitchen islands or feature walls where the full drama of the veining can unfold.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Medicea (Book-Matched)

What colours are actually in the Medicea veining?
The veining contains an unusual combination of warm gold-amber tones and cool blue-grey tones, both appearing within the same vein structures. It is the most colourful stone in the Cullifords Quartz range — most other white marble-effects have only grey or only gold veining, while Medicea has both, creating exceptional visual richness.
How does the book-matching work, and can I see the pattern before installation?
Your fabricator will cut adjacent slabs to create a mirror-image symmetry along the join line. Before installation, you should request to see the actual slabs that will make up your worktop, as every book-matched pair is unique. A good fabricator will template the layout so the symmetry line falls in the most visually effective position, typically the centre of an island.
Is Medicea too busy for a small kitchen?
Medicea is one of the most ornate designs available, so it can feel overwhelming in a very small or compact space. It is best suited to larger surfaces — a generous island, a long bar run, or a feature vanity — where the dramatic veining has room to breathe. In a small kitchen, you might find one of the simpler Carrara or Calacatta variants more comfortable to live with.
What hardware finishes complement the mixed gold and blue-grey veining?
The dual-tone veining gives you flexibility. Brushed brass or gold hardware connects with the warm gold tones in the veining, while chrome or polished nickel picks up the cooler blue-grey elements. Even a mix of warm and cool hardware can work, since the stone itself bridges both colour temperatures.
How do I maintain the polished surface of a book-matched quartz worktop?
The care is identical to any polished quartz — wipe with warm water and mild soap, avoid abrasive cleaners, and use trivets for hot pans. The join line where the two slabs meet may accumulate residue over time, so give it an occasional gentle clean with a soft brush. The polished finish is durable and does not require re-polishing under normal domestic use.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
