The Stone

See the natural beauty of Magma up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartzite unique.

Volcanic intensity in quartzite — jet-black depths blazing with golden-amber and sienna lava flows frozen in metamorphic rock.

Magma quartzite captures the primordial power of molten earth. Quarried in Brazil and also known as Magma Gold or Black Fusion Quartzite, this breathtakingly intense stone features a deep, rich black base through which bold, flowing formations of warm golden-amber, burnt-sienna, and bright white blaze like rivers of molten lava frozen in geological time. The contrast between darkness and fire is extraordinary — visceral, powerful, and impossible to ignore. Despite its volcanic name, Magma is metamorphic rock — formed not from cooling lava but from quartz-rich sandstone subjected to extreme tectonic pressure and heat. The result is a stone harder than granite, with exceptional scratch and heat resistance that makes it genuinely kitchen-grade. Available in polished and leathered finishes, it adapts to different design moods — high-gloss drama for contemporary spaces, or organic tactile warmth in the leathered finish. In2stone considers Magma one of the most visually arresting natural stones in our entire collection. Our craftsmen approach each slab with the understanding that a stone this dramatic deserves equally dramatic craftsmanship — expert positioning of the golden formations for maximum visual impact, precision cutting that respects the flowing patterns, and flawless installation that turns your kitchen into a gallery.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Magma

What does Magma quartzite look like?
Magma features a deep, rich black base with bold flowing formations of golden-amber, burnt-sienna, and bright white that resemble rivers of molten lava. The contrast between the dark ground and the luminous golden striations is extraordinary and dramatic. Every slab is unique, with its own arrangement of fiery formations. It's one of the most visually intense natural stones available.
Is Magma quartzite actually made from volcanic rock?
No — despite its volcanic name and lava-like appearance, Magma is metamorphic rock, not igneous. It formed when quartz-rich sandstone was subjected to extreme tectonic pressure and heat deep within the Earth's crust. The fiery golden-amber colours come from iron oxide and other mineral inclusions, not from volcanic processes. This geological distinction is actually an advantage — metamorphic quartzite is harder and more scratch-resistant than most volcanic stones.
What kitchen cabinets pair well with Magma quartzite?
Magma's dramatic black-gold palette demands thoughtful pairing. Deep espresso, matte black, or dark walnut cabinetry creates a cohesive, moody luxury scheme. Conversely, crisp white cabinets provide striking contrast that lets the golden formations glow dramatically against a clean backdrop. Avoid competing warm tones — let the stone's golden fire be the focal point. Brushed gold hardware echoes the amber veining beautifully.
How hard is Magma quartzite?
Magma is harder than granite, with the full hardness profile of genuine quartzite at Mohs 7. This makes it exceptionally scratch-resistant, heat-tolerant, and durable for daily kitchen use. The dark surface also has the practical advantage of being very forgiving with everyday marks and minor imperfections — they blend into the complex black-gold pattern far more easily than they would on a lighter stone.
How do you maintain Magma quartzite worktops?
Seal annually with an impregnating stone sealer and clean daily with warm water and pH-neutral soap. Magma's dark surface means it's one of the most forgiving quartzites for everyday kitchen life — marks, fingerprints, and minor imperfections are far less visible against the complex black-gold pattern. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners. The polished finish is easiest to maintain; the leathered finish may need slightly more attention to cleaning in textured areas.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
