The Stone

See the natural beauty of Jupiter up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Very dark charcoal-black quartz with fine sparse off-white veining and a polished finish from the Planet collection.

Quartzforms Jupiter is part of the Planet collection — and like its gas giant namesake, it commands attention through sheer scale and depth. The surface presents a very dark charcoal-black base with a subtle warm undertone, adorned with sparse to moderate veining in off-white to light grey. The veins are generally fine and thread-like, following random predominantly diagonal paths with occasional slight broadening or clustering where multiple lines intersect. The polished finish is smooth with a slight sheen, and there is no visible speckling or granular texture. The character is bold and dramatic.

Jupiter finds its elegance in restraint — where other dark Quartzforms surfaces like Crono or Midnight pile on bold veining, Jupiter keeps its veining sparse and fine. The result is a dark surface that reads as predominantly black from distance, with delicate white veining revealing itself on closer inspection. This restraint gives Jupiter a sophisticated minimalism that bold dramatic designs cannot achieve. The warm undertone in the charcoal-black base prevents the surface from feeling cold, and the occasional clustering where veins intersect creates natural focal points.

In2Stone recommends Jupiter for clients who want a dark, dramatic worktop with understated elegance rather than bold drama. The sparse veining makes it versatile — it works as both a focal point and a supporting surface. Pair with white or pale grey cabinetry for maximum contrast, or with dark charcoal for a tonal, enveloping atmosphere. Hardware in chrome or brushed nickel enhances the cool sophistication.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Jupiter

How sparse is the veining?
Sparse to moderate — the fine white veins provide delicate movement without covering much of the dark base. From normal viewing distance, Jupiter reads as predominantly dark with subtle white accents. This restraint gives the surface sophistication that heavily veined dark surfaces cannot match.
How does Jupiter compare to Midnight?
Both are dark surfaces from different collections. Midnight (Ocean) has a bold prominent diagonal vein with numerous branching secondary veins — dramatic and high-impact. Jupiter (Planet) has sparse fine thread-like veining — understated and elegant. Midnight makes a louder statement; Jupiter is the quieter, more refined choice.
Does Jupiter have a warm or cool base?
The charcoal-black base has a subtle warm undertone — not warm enough to read as brown, but enough to prevent the surface from feeling cold or stark. This warmth makes Jupiter more inviting than pure cold black surfaces, particularly under warm kitchen lighting.
Is Jupiter practical for a busy kitchen?
The sparse veining on a dark base means fingerprints and water spots may show under directional lighting, as with any dark polished surface. However, the veining helps break up marks visually. A quick wipe with a microfibre cloth keeps the surface looking pristine. The non-porous quartz resists staining.
What makes a sparse-veined dark surface appealing?
Sparse veining creates a sense of calm and sophistication — the dark base dominates, creating mood and atmosphere, while the occasional white vein adds just enough visual interest to prevent monotony. It is the design equivalent of a well-cut dark suit with subtle detailing.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
