Its deep, uniform charcoal-blue base is scattered with fine white fossil fragments and tiny mineral inclusions, each one a genuine remnant of Carboniferous-era marine life including crinoid stems, shells, and coral fragments. This is Belgium's national stone, with centuries of heritage in European architecture.
