The Stone

See the natural beauty of Rosa Limbara up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this granite unique.

Style:

Speckled Natural Polished

Sardinian Italian granite from Monte Limbara with warm taupe-grey speckling and pink-beige mineral undertones.

Rosa Limbara granite takes its name directly from Monte Limbara — the mountainous granite massif in northeastern Sardinia that has been a source of dimension stone for generations. Quarried from the Luras, Telti, and Calangianus districts, this is a stone rooted in a specific place with a specific geological identity. The slab presents a warm mid-grey to light taupe base created by a uniform distribution of irregularly shaped flecks in off-white, light grey, warm beige, and dark charcoal to black. There is no veining or directional movement — just a consistently dense, granular pattern across the entire surface.

Rosa Limbara is warmer and more taupe-toned than its sibling Rosa Beta. Where Rosa Beta has a brighter white base with pink undertones, Rosa Limbara leans further into warm grey-beige territory, producing a surface that feels earthy, grounded, and naturally warm. The Sardinian origin guarantees exceptional material quality — the Palaeozoic granite formations of Monte Limbara produce some of the densest, most structurally sound dimension stone in Europe. Performance is reliable: Mohs 6–7 hardness, excellent heat resistance, and very low porosity that maintains strong stain resistance under annual sealing.

In2Stone recommends Rosa Limbara for clients who want a warm, natural-toned worktop with Italian provenance. The taupe-grey palette bridges warm and neutral colour schemes with unusual ease — it works alongside cream, warm grey, stone-coloured, and timber-toned cabinetry without ever feeling out of place. The consistent, non-directional speckling is calm and sophisticated, letting other design elements take the lead.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Rosa Limbara

How does Rosa Limbara differ from Rosa Beta?
Both are Sardinian granites from the same geological region, but Rosa Limbara is warmer and more taupe-grey in tone, while Rosa Beta has a brighter white base with pink undertones. Rosa Limbara reads as a warm neutral; Rosa Beta reads as a cool pink-grey. The choice depends on whether your kitchen leans warm or cool in its colour scheme.
What is Monte Limbara?
Monte Limbara is a mountainous granite massif in northeastern Sardinia, rising to approximately 1,362 metres. The mountain is composed of ancient Palaeozoic granite formations and has been a source of dimension stone for the quarrying towns around its base — Luras, Telti, and Calangianus — for many generations.
Is Rosa Limbara suitable for a warm-toned kitchen?
Ideal. The warm mid-grey to light taupe palette was made for warm kitchen schemes — cream painted cabinetry, honey-toned timber, warm stone floors, and antique brass hardware all complement the stone's natural warmth. It brings an earthy, grounded quality that feels particularly effective in country, farmhouse, and rustic contemporary kitchens.
Does Rosa Limbara show marks easily?
The busy, uniform speckling is excellent at concealing everyday marks — crumbs, fingerprints, water spots, and minor wear are camouflaged by the dense granular pattern. The mid-tone base colour is also well balanced — neither so light that dark marks show, nor so dark that dust and light debris are conspicuous.
What maintenance does Rosa Limbara require?
Standard granite care — annual sealing with a quality impregnating stone sealer, daily cleaning with warm water and pH-neutral soap. Sardinian granites are known for their low porosity and respond very well to sealing, maintaining excellent stain resistance between applications.
★★★★★
"We decided to get bespoke granite work tops for our new kitchen and have to say that we are over the moon with them. From the outset, Ian was very professional when selecting the stone, he listened to what we wanted, went through all of the possibilities that we could have for our worktops and went through the process in detail once we had made a decision. The templateing and fitting was carried out by an incredibly professional and helpful team run by Kev, who knew exactly what they were doing and just got on and made my kitchen look amazing. I would highly recommend In2stone for a helpful, knowledgeable and professional service from start to finish."
