Azul Macaubas is a breathtaking natural stone from the Macaúbas region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, celebrated for its flowing veins of vivid azure-blue and cobalt sweeping across a soft, pale white-grey base. The blue colouring comes from dumortierite and other blue-bearing minerals within the stone, creating oceanic, wave-like formations that give each slab an almost painterly quality. Technically a quartzite rather than a true marble, Azul Macaubas is actually harder and more durable than most marbles — offering better resistance to scratching and staining whilst retaining the extraordinary beauty that has made it one of the world's most coveted exotic stones. Described by leading Italian stone house Antolini as "a masterpiece of nature," this stone commands ultra-premium pricing and limited availability.
