The Stone

See the natural beauty of Calacatta Gold up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this porcelain unique.

Colour:

White Gold Grey

Creamy off-white porcelain with flowing grey and golden-brown veining — a luxurious calacatta marble in porcelain.

Optimum Calacatta Gold brings the coveted character of Italian Calacatta marble to life in heat-proof porcelain. Its creamy off-white base provides a soft, warm backdrop for dynamic diagonal veining that ranges from fine threads to bold, flowing formations. The veins blend soft warm grey with distinct golden-brown accents that emerge within the broader sections, adding depth and richness to the pattern. The polished finish is smooth and luminous, bringing out the interplay between the grey and golden tones beautifully. Calacatta Gold occupies a sweet spot between drama and restraint — there's enough visual complexity to make a statement, but the warm tones keep it feeling approachable rather than imposing. As porcelain, it's entirely heat-proof, acid-resistant, and maintenance-free. Manufactured in extra-large 1840 × 3300mm slabs from 100% natural raw materials. Supplied and installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Calacatta Gold

What does Optimum Calacatta Gold look like?
Calacatta Gold has a creamy off-white base with dynamic diagonal veining that ranges from fine threads to bold, flowing formations. The veins are primarily soft warm grey with distinct golden-brown accents in the broader sections. The polished finish is smooth and luminous. It captures the warm, luxurious character of natural Calacatta marble.
How does Calacatta Gold differ from Borghini?
Both are warm-toned marble-effect designs on creamy bases, but the intensity differs. Borghini has bolder, more prominent veining with rich amber and rust-brown accents — it's more dramatic and visually dominant. Calacatta Gold has softer grey veining with subtler golden accents, creating a more refined, less intense marble character.
Is Calacatta Gold porcelain as good as natural Calacatta marble?
For kitchen use, it's actually more practical. Natural Calacatta marble is extremely expensive, porous, acid-sensitive, and requires careful maintenance. Optimum porcelain delivers the same visual character with complete heat resistance, acid immunity, and zero maintenance. The trade-off is that porcelain lacks the unique geological variation of natural stone.
What cabinetry colours pair well with Calacatta Gold?
The warm cream base and golden-brown veining pair beautifully with white, cream, sage green, and natural timber cabinetry. Brushed gold or brass hardware picks up the golden tones in the veining perfectly. For contrast, deep charcoal or navy units create a grounded, sophisticated scheme that lets the warm worktop stand out.
Can Calacatta Gold be used for worktops and splashbacks together?
Yes — and it's one of the most popular ways to install Optimum surfaces. Matching the worktop and splashback in the same material creates a seamless, coordinated look. The 12mm thickness works well for the splashback while the 20mm provides substance for the worktop surface.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
