Nero Marquina is a classic Spanish marble, immediately captivating with its deep, rich black base. Across this intense backdrop, elegant white calcite veining creates a strikingly sophisticated, high-contrast effect. These clean, defined white veins cut through the dark background, establishing a magnificently refined, architectural quality with a bold monochromatic character and timeless appeal.
Sourced from the distinguished quarries of Markina-Xemein in Spain's Basque Country, this marble is a metamorphic rock formed from limestone or dolostone under immense heat and pressure. Over geological millennia, calcite crystals recrystallise into the dense, interlocking mosaic we see today, with impurities like graphite contributing to its profound black colour and other accessory minerals forming the exquisite white veining.
