Black Slate Honed is a dark, brooding natural stone that brings an industrial-chic character to kitchen design. Commercially traded alongside marbles, this is actually a slate — a fine-grained metamorphic rock formed from compressed clay sediments — which gives it a distinctly different texture and personality from true marble. Its uniform dark charcoal base is punctuated by scattered fine white crystalline veins, while the honed matte finish provides a contemporary, non-reflective surface. The non-glossy surface is both visually striking and practically beneficial — fingerprints, water marks, and minor wear are far less visible on a honed slate surface than on polished marble. This makes Black Slate Honed an excellent choice for homeowners who want a dramatic dark worktop without the high-maintenance requirements of a polished finish.
