Sparkle Polished Fine Grain

Brazilian black granite with a refined fine-grained sparkle across a deep consistent polished jet-black base.

Stargate granite comes from Brazil and presents one of the most sophisticated expressions of the black sparkle granite category. The slab displays a deep consistent black base with a highly polished finish that creates distinct reflections. Throughout the surface, a fine uniformly distributed granular texture of countless tiny bright specks subtly shimmers under direct light. There is no veining, no directional pattern, and no colour variation — just a refined cohesive black surface with an understated sparkling dimension.

What distinguishes Stargate from its more famous cousin Star Galaxy is subtlety. Where Star Galaxy's bronzite crystals create obvious metallic sparkle, Stargate's fine specks are smaller, more uniformly distributed, and more restrained — a quiet shimmer rather than a dramatic sparkle. The result is a surface that reads as a luxurious, deep black from normal viewing distance, revealing its sparkling dimension only when light catches the surface at the right angle. This understated quality gives Stargate a more architectural, refined character that suits minimalist and high-end contemporary settings. Performance is standard granite: Mohs 6–7 hardness, excellent heat resistance, and very low porosity.

In2Stone recommends Stargate for clients who want the depth and luxury of a jet-black stone with a subtle, sophisticated sparkle that does not compete with the rest of the kitchen design. It works beautifully in high-end contemporary kitchens alongside clean white cabinetry, brushed metallic hardware, and restrained material palettes where every element has been carefully considered.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Stargate

How does Stargate differ from Star Galaxy?
Stargate has a finer, more subtle sparkle — smaller specks that are more uniformly distributed and less individually prominent than Star Galaxy's bronzite crystals. Star Galaxy has obvious, warm metallic sparkle; Stargate has a refined, understated shimmer. Choose Star Galaxy for glamour; Stargate for sophistication.
Is Stargate a true black granite?
The base colour is a deep, consistent black — one of the most uniform black surfaces available in natural stone. There is no significant colour variation, veining, or pattern to break the black base. The subtle sparkle adds dimension without disrupting the overall black character.
Will the sparkle be visible in normal kitchen lighting?
The sparkle is subtle — it becomes most visible under directional spotlighting or natural light from windows. Under diffuse ambient lighting, the surface reads as a refined deep black. This subtlety is a design feature, not a limitation — it ensures the stone feels sophisticated rather than flashy.
What kitchen styles suit Stargate?
High-end contemporary, minimalist, and architectural kitchens work best. The refined black surface suits restrained design palettes where quality of materials matters more than visual drama. Pair with white or pale grey cabinetry, brushed nickel or matt black hardware, and natural materials like timber or concrete.
Does Stargate granite show fingerprints?
Like all dark polished surfaces, Stargate can show fingerprints under certain lighting. The fine sparkle helps to diffuse their visibility slightly, but regular wiping with a microfibre cloth is recommended. A leathered finish may be available on request for reduced fingerprint visibility.
★★★★★
"We decided to get bespoke granite work tops for our new kitchen and have to say that we are over the moon with them. From the outset, Ian was very professional when selecting the stone, he listened to what we wanted, went through all of the possibilities that we could have for our worktops and went through the process in detail once we had made a decision. The templateing and fitting was carried out by an incredibly professional and helpful team run by Kev, who knew exactly what they were doing and just got on and made my kitchen look amazing. I would highly recommend In2stone for a helpful, knowledgeable and professional service from start to finish."
