Brazilian granite from Ceará with a creamy base smothered in golden-brown, reddish, and charcoal mineral deposits.

Juperana Torrone granite takes its name from the Italian for nougat — and the comparison is apt. Quarried from the state of Ceará in northeastern Brazil, this stone presents a light creamy off-white base almost entirely covered in a dense, irregular mosaic of warm golden-brown, reddish-brown, and dark charcoal-grey mineral deposits. Smaller, lighter flecks add translucent highlights throughout, and the highly polished finish brings significant reflectivity that amplifies the warmth in the mineral palette. There is no veining — the character is entirely mottled and speckled, creating a surface that is bold and richly textured.

Brazilian granites from the Ceará region are known for their complex mineral compositions, and Juperana Torrone is no exception. The interlocking crystalline structure delivers Mohs 6–7 hardness, strong heat resistance, and the kind of density that keeps porosity well below the threshold where staining becomes a concern — provided annual sealing is maintained. The polished finish is the most practical for kitchen use, offering a smooth surface that cleans easily and resists moisture absorption.

In2Stone values Juperana Torrone for its ability to bring warmth and visual richness to a kitchen without relying on veining or dramatic colour contrasts. It pairs naturally with warm timber cabinetry in oak or walnut, sits well alongside terracotta or stone-effect floor tiles, and complements hardware in brushed brass or antique copper. The dense mineral pattern means every section of worktop offers something slightly different to the eye — the kind of natural variation that gives a kitchen genuine individuality.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Juperana Torrone

What does 'Juperana Torrone' mean?
Juperana is a trade name used for several Brazilian granite varieties with complex, multi-coloured mineral patterns. Torrone is Italian for nougat, and the name references the stone's warm, mottled appearance — the creamy base dotted with golden-brown and reddish mineral deposits does resemble the cross-section of a traditional Italian nougat confection.
Is Juperana Torrone a busy-looking stone?
Yes — it has a densely mottled, all-over pattern with no plain areas or quiet zones. If you prefer a calm, minimalist worktop, this may not be the right choice. But for homeowners who appreciate rich natural texture and want a surface that tells a geological story in every square centimetre, Juperana Torrone delivers real visual depth.
Does the warm colouring in Juperana Torrone fade over time?
No. Granite is naturally UV-stable — the mineral colours are inherent to the stone's crystalline structure and will not fade, yellow, or change colour when exposed to sunlight. Your Juperana Torrone worktop will look the same in twenty years as it does on installation day.
Where in Brazil is Juperana Torrone quarried?
This granite comes from the state of Ceará in northeastern Brazil. Ceará is one of Brazil's significant granite-producing regions, known for its warm-toned, densely patterned stones. The geological conditions in this region — ancient Precambrian formations — produce granites with the rich mineral complexity that defines the Juperana family.
Can Juperana Torrone granite be used for a breakfast bar?
Absolutely. Granite's hardness (Mohs 6–7) and heat resistance make it ideal for breakfast bars and kitchen islands where the surface needs to handle daily use — from morning coffee cups to homework sessions to dinner preparation. The dense speckled pattern also helps disguise crumbs and minor marks, making it practical for high-traffic areas.

"We decided to get bespoke granite work tops for our new kitchen and have to say that we are over the moon with them. From the outset, Ian was very professional when selecting the stone, he listened to what we wanted, went through all of the possibilities that we could have for our worktops and went through the process in detail once we had made a decision. The templateing and fitting was carried out by an incredibly professional and helpful team run by Kev, who knew exactly what they were doing and just got on and made my kitchen look amazing. I would highly recommend In2stone for a helpful, knowledgeable and professional service from start to finish."
