The Stone

See the natural beauty of Phantom up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartzite unique.

Colour:

White Grey Green

Otherworldly agate-like swirls in grey, beige, and green flowing across luminous white — a phantom impression of nature's most mysterious artistry.

Phantom quartzite exists in that extraordinary space between natural stone and abstract art. Quarried in Brazil and also known as Phantom Impression Quartzite, this spectacularly dramatic stone features a luminous white base through which extraordinary swirling formations of deep grey, warm beige, and subtle green create mesmerisingly organic, ghost-like patterns. The agate-like circular swirls and layered formations produce an almost otherworldly quality — as though spectral impressions have been captured within the stone's crystalline matrix. Similar in its fluid patterning to Macaubas Fantasy, Phantom pushes the boundaries of what quartzite can look like. Each slab is genuinely unique — the swirling formations will never repeat, making every installation a one-of-a-kind piece of geological artwork. Yet beneath the artistic spectacle lies the familiar reliability of quartzite: Mohs 7 hardness, heat resistance, scratch resistance, and the durability to serve as a worktop for generations. In2stone considers Phantom one of the most artistically striking stones in our entire natural stone collection. Our craftsmen approach each slab as a canvas — positioning the phantom-like formations for maximum visual drama and ensuring the mysterious, swirling patterns are showcased to their fullest potential.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Phantom

What creates the swirling patterns in Phantom quartzite?
Phantom's extraordinary swirling formations were created during metamorphic processes millions of years ago. Different mineral layers were folded, compressed, and recrystallised under extreme heat and pressure, creating circular, agate-like patterns in deep grey, warm beige, and green. The 'phantom' name comes from the ghost-like quality of these formations — as though spectral impressions have been captured within the crystalline quartz matrix.
What kitchen styles work with Phantom quartzite?
Phantom is a statement stone that needs space to breathe. It works beautifully in open, contemporary kitchens with clean-lined cabinetry that doesn't compete with the dramatic patterns. Pale grey, white, or matte black cabinets all provide effective backdrops. Avoid busy wall tiles or patterned splashbacks — let the stone be the undisputed visual focal point. It's particularly stunning as an island centrepiece.
How does Phantom quartzite compare to Macaubas Fantasy?
Both Phantom and Macaubas Fantasy share fluid, flowing patterning in the Macaubas style. However, Phantom pushes the visual drama further with more pronounced agate-like circular swirls and an almost otherworldly, ghost-like quality. Fantasy Macaubas tends to have more subtle, refined veining. Both deliver excellent quartzite performance — the choice between them is purely aesthetic.
Is Phantom quartzite durable enough for everyday use?
Absolutely. Despite its artistic, seemingly delicate appearance, Phantom is genuine quartzite with Mohs 7 hardness. It resists scratches from knives, handles direct heat from pans, and will not etch from acidic kitchen spills. With annual sealing, it provides reliable stain resistance. Each swirling formation is permanently locked into the stone's crystalline structure — they cannot fade, wear, or degrade.
How do you care for Phantom quartzite?
Seal annually with an impregnating stone sealer and clean daily with warm water and pH-neutral soap. Phantom's multi-tonal swirling patterns are actually quite forgiving with everyday marks — the complex formations camouflage minor imperfections well. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could dull the polished surface. Use soft cloths for cleaning. The white areas benefit from prompt attention to coloured spills.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
