The Stone

See the natural beauty of Macchia Vecchia up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this porcelain unique.

Colour:

Cream Brown Grey Gold

Pale cream porcelain with dense warm brown-grey and golden veining — a richly layered Italian marble recreation.

Optimum Macchia Vecchia recreates one of Italy's most characterful decorative marbles. Its pale cream base with warm undertones is traversed by a dense network of organic veining in warm brown-grey with subtle golden and beige tints, accompanied by deeper muted charcoal-grey accents and lighter diffused grey tones. The veins flow randomly, varying from fine threads to bolder formations, creating a surface with exceptional tonal range and visual complexity. The polished finish amplifies the multi-tonal interplay, making Macchia Vecchia glow under kitchen lighting. The combination of cream, gold, brown, and grey gives this surface a warmth and richness that cooler marble-effect designs can't match. As porcelain stoneware, it delivers this complex natural stone character with complete heat resistance, acid immunity, and zero maintenance. Manufactured in extra-large 1840 × 3300mm slabs from 100% natural raw materials. Supplied and installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Macchia Vecchia

What does Optimum Macchia Vecchia look like?
Macchia Vecchia has a pale cream base covered by dense organic veining in warm brown-grey with golden and beige tints, alongside deeper charcoal-grey accents and lighter diffused grey. The veins flow randomly, from fine threads to bolder formations. The polished finish brings the multi-tonal complexity to life. It's richly layered and warm.
How does Macchia Vecchia compare to Borghini?
Both are warm, richly veined marble recreations on cream bases, but they differ in character. Borghini has bolder, wider ribbon-like veining with distinct amber-rust accents — it's more structured. Macchia Vecchia has denser, more organic veining with a wider tonal range including golden, brown-grey, and charcoal in complex layers. Macchia Vecchia is more intricate; Borghini is more commanding.
What cabinetry works with Macchia Vecchia?
The warm colour palette pairs beautifully with natural timber, cream, sage green, and warm grey cabinetry. Brushed gold or antique brass hardware picks up the golden tints in the veining. For contrast, deep charcoal or espresso-stained units create a rich, layered scheme. Avoid cool blue or silver tones that would clash with the warm character.
Is Macchia Vecchia suitable for a large kitchen island?
Absolutely. The extra-large 1840 × 3300mm slab format allows for expansive, seamless installations. The dense, organic veining pattern creates a genuine centrepiece, particularly under pendant lighting where the polished finish brings out the golden tones and tonal complexity.
Does porcelain need sealing like natural marble?
No — Optimum porcelain is completely non-porous and never requires sealing, waxing, or chemical treatments. Natural marble needs periodic sealing and is sensitive to acids and staining. Porcelain delivers the same visual beauty with maintenance-free performance that lasts indefinitely.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
