The Stone

See the natural beauty of Ammonite up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Colour:

Brown Beige Grey

Light warm taupe quartz with fine dark speckling and creamy lighter patches creating composite stone character from the Fossil collection.

Quartzforms Ammonite is part of the Fossil collection — named for the spiral-shelled marine fossils that are among the most recognisable in the geological record. The surface presents a uniform light warm taupe base with no distinct veining. Instead, a subtle granular pattern features moderate to dense scattering of very fine dark brown-grey flecks interspersed with sparsely distributed irregular patches of slightly lighter creamy beige tone. The matte or honed finish has no significant reflections. The character is understated with a consistent speckled composite stone quality.

Ammonite is the warmest surface in the Fossil collection — the light taupe base sits firmly in warm neutral territory, and the dark brown-grey flecks reinforce this warmth. The speckled pattern creates the impression of a natural composite stone where different mineral particles are visible within a unified matrix. The irregular lighter patches add a secondary layer of textural interest, breaking up the speckling with softer tonal zones. This multi-layered texture — base colour, dark speckling, lighter patches — gives Ammonite genuine material complexity.

In2Stone recommends Ammonite for clients who want warm natural stone character in a practical near-solid format. The taupe and brown palette creates earthy, grounded kitchen atmospheres. Cream and warm white cabinetry creates a cohesive warm scheme; natural timber adds organic depth. Hardware in brushed bronze or antique brass echoes the warm brown tones naturally.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Ammonite

What is an ammonite?
Ammonites were spiral-shelled marine creatures that lived for 350 million years before going extinct alongside the dinosaurs. Their fossils are among the most recognisable geological specimens. The surface captures the warm earthy quality of fossiliferous stone.
What is composite stone character?
The speckled pattern mimics natural stones where different mineral particles are visible within a unified base — like limestone or sandstone with visible composition. Ammonite achieves this composite quality through dark brown-grey flecks and lighter creamy patches within the warm taupe base.
How does Ammonite compare to Ashen Light?
Both are warm near-solid surfaces in the beige-taupe range. Ashen Light (Breeze) has delicate thread-like veining. Ammonite (Fossil) has speckled composite texture without veining. Ashen Light has more visible movement; Ammonite has more textural density.
Is the matte finish standard across the Fossil collection?
Most Fossil collection surfaces feature matte or honed finishes — consistent with the collection's natural, honest material philosophy. The matte finish reinforces the natural stone character and provides excellent practical performance.
What are the lighter patches?
Sparsely distributed irregular areas of slightly lighter creamy beige within the taupe base. They add soft tonal variation that breaks up the speckling and creates organic zones of gentler colour. The patches are subtle enough to add character without creating visible pattern.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
