The Stone

See the natural beauty of Portoro up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

A deep black quartz with fine white and gold angular veining — sharp Portoro marble elegance with metallic warmth.

Portoro takes its name from the legendary Italian Portoro marble and captures its essence in engineered quartz. The deep black base provides a commanding dark canvas, through which thin veining in white and gold traces fine, angular paths with sharp, geometric precision. Unlike the flowing, organic veining of the Calacatta range, Portoro's veining is structured and deliberate — the gold tones adding warm metallic highlights that give the surface a jewel-like quality. The polished finish intensifies the depth of the black base and makes the fine veining luminous and crisp. This is a surface of serious luxury — ideal for statement kitchen islands, premium home bars, and high-end commercial installations where the Italian marble tradition is celebrated.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Portoro

What is Portoro inspired by?
Portoro is inspired by the legendary Portoro marble from Italy — a rare, intensely dramatic natural stone characterised by a deep black base with bold gold veining. Classic Quartz's Portoro captures this luxurious aesthetic in engineered quartz, delivering the same striking black-and-gold contrast with the practical benefits of a non-porous, stain-resistant surface.
How bold is the gold veining in Portoro?
The gold veining in Portoro is bold and dramatic — thick, flowing formations that cut across the deep black base with unapologetic confidence. This is not subtle metallic shimmer; it is full-bodied gold veining that creates intense contrast and genuine visual power. Every slab is a statement of luxury and drama.
Where does Portoro work best?
Portoro is a showpiece surface designed for premium installations — large kitchen islands, luxury bar tops, feature wall cladding, and high-end bathroom vanities. It also makes an exceptional commercial surface for boutique hotels, premium restaurants, and luxury retail counters where the dramatic black-and-gold aesthetic creates an immediate impression of opulence.
What cabinet colours complement Portoro?
Portoro works best with simple, restrained cabinetry that lets the dramatic worktop command attention. White, cream, dark charcoal, or deep navy cabinets provide the ideal backdrop. The gold veining naturally coordinates with brushed gold or brass hardware for a cohesive luxury scheme. Avoid busy or colourful cabinetry — with Portoro, the surface is the star.
Is Portoro a natural stone?
No. Classic Quartz Portoro is engineered quartz — manufactured from up to 93% natural quartz combined with polymer resins. It is inspired by and visually references the rare Italian Portoro marble, but as an engineered surface it offers significant practical advantages: non-porous, stain-resistant, no sealing required, consistent colour and pattern, and a 10-year warranty.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
