Stone Effect Veined Natural Matte Finish

Dark cool grey porcelain with bold silvery veining and granular depth — a dramatic natural stone-effect surface.

Optimum Atlantic Grey channels the raw, geological power of natural quartzite in porcelain form. Its dark cool grey base carries subtle mottling and tonal shifts, overlaid with a dense network of prominent diagonal veining in contrasting lighter silvery grey to off-white. The veins range from fine threads to bold, broad, fractured patterns, with darker grey infills and occasional warm brown-grey or ochre hints within the deepest fissures adding further complexity. The honed, matte finish and fine granular texture visible within the lighter veined areas give Atlantic Grey a tactile, raw quality that polished surfaces lack. This is a surface for kitchens where natural stone character and visual drama are the priority — and as porcelain, it delivers that character with complete heat resistance, UV stability, and zero maintenance. Manufactured in extra-large 1840 × 3300mm slabs from 100% natural raw materials. Supplied and installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Atlantic Grey

What does Optimum Atlantic Grey look like?
Atlantic Grey has a dark cool grey base with subtle mottling and tonal shifts. Dense diagonal veining in silvery grey to off-white ranges from fine threads to bold, fractured patterns. Darker grey infills and occasional warm ochre hints appear within the deepest fissures. The matte, honed finish gives it a raw, geological quality — closer to quartzite than polished marble.
Is Atlantic Grey suitable for a dark kitchen scheme?
It works brilliantly in moody, dramatic kitchens — particularly when paired with charcoal or navy cabinetry. The bold silvery veining provides enough contrast to prevent the space feeling flat, and the lighter vein colours reflect light back into the room. Good directional lighting is important to bring out the full depth of the pattern.
What finish does Atlantic Grey have?
Atlantic Grey has a honed, matte finish with a fine granular texture. This gives it a tactile, natural quality that avoids the high-gloss reflectivity of polished surfaces. The matte finish is also more forgiving in daily use — it shows fewer fingerprints and water spots than polished alternatives.
How does porcelain compare to natural quartzite?
Natural quartzite requires periodic sealing, can be sensitive to acids, and varies significantly between slabs. Optimum porcelain recreates the look with far greater consistency and zero maintenance. It's also completely heat-proof and UV-stable — properties that natural quartzite doesn't reliably offer.
Can Atlantic Grey be used for wall cladding?
Yes — the 12mm thickness option is specifically well-suited for wall cladding, splashbacks, and feature walls. The dramatic veining pattern creates a powerful visual impact on vertical surfaces. Using the same material on walls and worktops creates a seamless, coordinated look throughout the kitchen.

"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
