The Stone

See the natural beauty of Marbella up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartzite unique.

Colour:

Grey Brown Pink

Mediterranean mosaic of smoky lavender, rose-brown, and charcoal in angular crystalline formations — the soul of coastal Spain captured in Brazilian quartzite.

Marbella quartzite channels the warm, sun-drenched character of its Spanish namesake. Quarried in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil (known locally as Marbella of Vitória), this strikingly complex stone presents a rich, multi-tonal palette of smoky lavender-grey, warm rose-brown, deep charcoal, and subtle blue-grey. Large, angular crystalline formations create a uniquely textured, mosaic-like quality — as though the stone were assembled from interlocking geological fragments, each telling its own mineral story. With up to 94% quartz content, Marbella achieves a Mohs hardness of 7.5, placing it among the harder quartzite varieties. Its angular, crystalline texture gives it a geological character that sets it apart from the smooth, flowing veining of most quartzites. Fine rust-amber veining threads through the larger formations, adding warmth and complexity. Less porous than marble, it provides reliable performance in kitchen and bathroom environments. In2stone values Marbella for its Mediterranean-inspired warmth and visual complexity. Our craftsmen's skill with textured, multi-tonal stones ensures that the mosaic-like pattern is honoured in every installation — with careful attention to how the angular formations meet at joins and how the rich colour palette reads across the full worktop span.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Marbella

What gives Marbella quartzite its mosaic-like appearance?
Marbella's distinctive mosaic quality comes from its large, angular, interlocking crystalline formations. Unlike the flowing veined patterns typical of most quartzites, Marbella's mineral fragments are arranged in geometric, tessellated patterns — each fragment with its own distinct colour (lavender-grey, rose-brown, charcoal, blue-grey). This creates a uniquely textured, geological quality that feels assembled from nature's own palette.
What design styles suit Marbella quartzite?
Marbella's warm, Mediterranean-inspired palette works beautifully in coastal, Tuscan, and warm contemporary kitchens. Its smoky lavender and rose-brown tones pair wonderfully with warm cream, terracotta, or dusty pink cabinetry. For contrast, charcoal or dark grey units let the warm stone tones glow. Natural materials — rattan, linen, olive wood — complement its organic, sun-kissed character perfectly.
How hard is Marbella quartzite compared to other worktop materials?
Marbella is exceptionally hard at Mohs 7.5, thanks to its 94% quartz content. This makes it one of the harder quartzite varieties — significantly harder than granite (typically Mohs 6-7) and dramatically harder than marble (Mohs 3-5). Daily kitchen use — knives, hot pans, acidic spills — poses no threat to this remarkably tough stone.
Where is Marbella quartzite quarried?
Marbella quartzite is quarried in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil — it's known locally as 'Marbella of Vitória'. Despite being named after the glamorous Spanish coastal city for its Mediterranean colour palette, the stone itself is 100% Brazilian. Espírito Santo is one of Brazil's most important natural stone producing states.
Is Marbella quartzite low maintenance?
Yes — Marbella is less porous than marble and requires straightforward maintenance. Seal annually with an impregnating stone sealer. Clean daily with warm water and pH-neutral soap. The multi-tonal, textured surface is actually very forgiving with everyday marks — they blend into the complex pattern far more discreetly than on a plain-coloured stone. It's a high-impact visual choice with pleasingly low-maintenance living.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
