The Stone

See the natural beauty of Baroque up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Colour:

Grey Brown Cream

Style:

Natural Veined Matte

Dark brown-grey quartz with subtle warm grey veining and concrete-like character from the Veined collection.

Quartzforms Baroque is part of the Veined collection — but despite its ornate name, this surface is one of the most restrained in the Quartzforms range. The surface presents a dominant dark brown-grey base leaning towards warm charcoal. Subtle fine to thread-like veining in light warm grey or dusty off-white is randomly distributed in sparse to moderate density. The matte or honed finish reveals a consistent fine granular texture throughout the dark base and within the lighter diffuse patterns. The character is understated natural stone or concrete-like — subtle rather than dramatic.

Baroque takes its name from the lavish artistic movement of the 17th century — but delivers the opposite of Baroque excess. This ironic naming highlights the surface's sophisticated restraint. The warm charcoal base has a depth and richness that pure grey or black cannot match, and the sparse veining adds just enough movement to prevent the surface from feeling completely static. The fine granular texture throughout gives it a tactile quality that recalls concrete, natural stone, or plaster — materials with genuine substance and age. The matte finish is essential to this character, eliminating any sheen that would undermine the raw, honest quality.

In2Stone recommends Baroque for industrial, brutalist, and understated contemporary kitchens where raw materials and honest textures are valued. The dark warm charcoal pairs with exposed concrete, steel, reclaimed timber, and matt black hardware. It creates kitchen atmospheres that feel substantial and grounded — a surface for buildings, not showrooms.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Baroque

Does Baroque look like concrete?
The vision analysis describes it as having a 'concrete-like character' — the dark warm charcoal base, fine granular texture, and matte finish all contribute to this impression. It captures the honest, substantial quality of concrete while being non-porous, maintenance-free, and backed by a 25-year warranty.
Why is it called Baroque if it is restrained?
The naming is ironic — the Baroque artistic movement was defined by lavish excess, but this surface delivers sophisticated restraint. The contrast between the ornate name and the understated surface highlights Quartzforms' playful approach to naming across their collections.
Is dark brown-grey different from charcoal?
The base leans towards warm charcoal with brown undertones — warmer than pure grey charcoal, darker than typical brown. This warm darkness feels more inviting than cool grey surfaces and works better alongside natural materials like timber and leather.
How visible is the veining?
Subtle — sparse fine thread-like veins in light warm grey or dusty off-white are randomly distributed. They add gentle movement without creating drama or pattern. From normal viewing distance, Baroque reads as a textured dark surface with subtle lighter accents.
What design philosophy suits Baroque?
Wabi-sabi, brutalism, and industrial minimalism all suit Baroque's honest, material-first character. It is for kitchens where the raw quality of surfaces matters more than decoration — where concrete, steel, and honest timber set the tone. The matte finish and granular texture speak to this philosophy.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
