The Stone

See the natural beauty of Calacatta Alaska up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Off-white quartz with soft grey and pale beige cloud-like marble veining — a gentle, cleanly natural surface.

Nilestone Calacatta Alaska captures the quiet, diffused light of Arctic landscapes. Its off-white base carries subtle random veining in very light muted grey and pale beige-grey creating a gentle flowing pattern. The veining ranges from fine threads to broader diffused cloud-like areas at moderate density, contributing to a soft visual texture rather than individual detail. The polished finish is smooth and reflective. Alaska's character is defined by restraint — the veining is so soft and cloud-like that it creates atmosphere rather than pattern. It's marble at its most diffused and peaceful. Engineered from 93% natural quartz with polymer resins. Non-porous, scratch resistant (Mohs 7), NSF and Greenguard certified. 15-year warranty. Supplied and installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Calacatta Alaska

What does Nilestone Calacatta Alaska look like?
Calacatta Alaska has an off-white base with very light muted grey and pale beige-grey veining creating gentle flowing patterns. The veining ranges from fine threads to broader cloud-like areas. Polished and reflective. It's a gentle, cleanly natural marble — soft, diffused, and peaceful. Veining creates atmosphere rather than pattern.
Why Alaska?
The name references the vast, quiet, diffused quality of Arctic light — pale tones, soft cloud-like movement, and a clean natural atmosphere. The very light grey and beige-grey veining has that same quiet, expansive quality. It's marble that feels wide open and serene rather than detailed and busy.
How does Alaska compare to Verde?
Both are soft, subtle Calacatta designs on white bases. Verde has slightly denser grey veining with more organic movement. Alaska has even lighter veining with broader cloud-like diffusion — it's the softest of the two. Verde has more visual texture; Alaska has more atmospheric calm.
What cabinetry suits Calacatta Alaska?
The gentle, neutral character pairs with virtually anything. White creates a serene, bright kitchen. Natural timber adds warmth. Pale grey creates a tonal scheme. The lack of strong veining means even busy cabinetry designs work — Alaska provides a calm foundation rather than competing for attention.
Is subtle marble less popular?
Subtle marble designs like Alaska are increasingly popular in UK kitchens — they offer the premium of natural stone aesthetics without the visual weight of bold veining. They're particularly suited to open-plan living where a calm, non-dominant worktop integrates better with the wider living space.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
