Veined Natural Polished

Brazilian brown granite with bold diagonal veining in cream and warm grey across a deep brown polished base.

Sequoia Brown granite comes from Brazil, named after the towering ancient trees whose deep bark tones it evokes. The slab presents a dominant deep warm brown-grey base with dense diagonal veining carrying noticeable wavy movement throughout. The veins range significantly from fine thread-like lines in darker brown-grey and near-black to medium and bold broader bands of lighter brown-grey, warm cream, and off-white. The polished finish adds a subtle sheen and reveals a faint granular texture within the base material.

Sequoia Brown occupies an interesting position in the granite spectrum — it is one of the few truly brown granites with strong veining character. While many brown stones tend toward uniform speckling, Sequoia Brown's bold diagonal veining gives it genuine movement and direction. The warm brown palette is inherently inviting and feels connected to the natural world in a way that cooler grey or black granites do not. The varying vein thickness — from delicate thread-like lines to broad sweeping bands — creates a layered visual complexity that rewards close observation. Performance is standard granite: Mohs 6–7 hardness, excellent heat resistance, and low porosity under annual sealing.

In2Stone recommends Sequoia Brown for kitchens designed around warmth and natural materials. It pairs beautifully with dark walnut or oak cabinetry, complements warm metallic hardware in brushed bronze or antique brass, and works alongside cream, stone, and earthy terracotta tones. The diagonal vein direction adds energy to the space — a dynamic quality that prevents the warm palette from feeling static.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Sequoia Brown

What colour is Sequoia Brown granite?
The base is a deep warm brown-grey — not a cold chocolate brown, but a warm, earthy tone with grey undertones. The veining runs in lighter brown-grey, warm cream, and off-white, creating a tonal range that stays entirely within the warm brown family. The overall effect is rich, natural, and inviting.
What direction does the veining run?
The veining runs predominantly diagonally with a wavy, undulating movement. This diagonal emphasis adds energy and direction to the surface, creating a more dynamic appearance than horizontal or random veining. The fabricator can orient the slab during installation to align the vein direction with your kitchen layout.
Is brown granite popular in the UK?
Brown granite is less common than grey, black, or white in the UK market, which makes it a more distinctive choice. It appeals to clients who want warmth and natural character without the cooler tones that dominate current trends. Brown granite has been used in high-end interiors for decades and carries a timeless quality.
What design styles suit Sequoia Brown?
Sequoia Brown works best in warm, natural design schemes — rustic contemporary, farmhouse modern, and earthy luxury interiors. It pairs naturally with timber, leather, linen, and other organic materials. It also works in traditional kitchens alongside dark wood cabinetry and period-style hardware.
Does Sequoia Brown granite need special care?
No — standard granite maintenance applies. Annual sealing, daily cleaning with warm water and pH-neutral soap. The warm brown colour and bold veining are practical advantages, as they conceal everyday marks and staining more effectively than pale or uniformly coloured surfaces.
★★★★★
"We decided to get bespoke granite work tops for our new kitchen and have to say that we are over the moon with them. From the outset, Ian was very professional when selecting the stone, he listened to what we wanted, went through all of the possibilities that we could have for our worktops and went through the process in detail once we had made a decision. The templateing and fitting was carried out by an incredibly professional and helpful team run by Kev, who knew exactly what they were doing and just got on and made my kitchen look amazing. I would highly recommend In2stone for a helpful, knowledgeable and professional service from start to finish."
