The Stone

See the natural beauty of Marquina Shimmer up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Deep black quartz with stark white fractured marble veining — a bold, powerfully contrasted surface.

Nilestone Marquina Shimmer channels the prestige of Spanish Nero Marquina marble with absolute contrast. Its deep uniform black base with a highly polished finish carries stark white veining prominently displayed in random diagonal patterns. The veins have a distinct fractured or lightning-like pattern varying from fine threads to medium widths, occasionally branching into more intricate networks at moderate density. The black-and-white contrast is the most extreme in the Nilestone range — no grey transitions, no warm tones, just absolute darkness and absolute brightness. The fractured lightning-like vein pattern adds raw natural drama. Engineered from 93% natural quartz with polymer resins. Non-porous, scratch resistant (Mohs 7), NSF and Greenguard certified. 15-year warranty. Supplied and installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Marquina Shimmer

What does Nilestone Marquina Shimmer look like?
Marquina Shimmer has a deep uniform black base with stark white veining in random diagonal patterns. The veins have a fractured, lightning-like quality varying from fine threads to medium widths with occasional branching networks. Highly polished and reflective. A powerfully contrasted marble — absolute black meets absolute white.
What is Marquina marble?
Nero Marquina is a prestigious black marble quarried in the Basque Country, Spain. It's been used in luxury architecture for centuries. Nilestone's Marquina Shimmer captures the essential character — deep black with white veining — in a non-porous quartz surface that doesn't require the careful maintenance natural Marquina demands.
Does polished black show marks?
Polished black is the most revealing surface for fingerprints, water spots, and dust — that's the trade-off for dramatic luxury. Regular wiping with a microfibre cloth keeps it pristine. The non-porous surface means marks are always surface-level. Consider the satin finish alternative if lower maintenance is preferred.
What cabinetry suits Marquina Shimmer?
White cabinetry creates maximum contrast — black worktop, white cabinets, with the marble veining bridging the two. Dark cabinetry creates an immersive, moody kitchen. Brushed gold or brass hardware adds warmth against the monochrome. The bold contrast makes Marquina Shimmer a statement — design the kitchen around it.
Can Marquina be used as a splashback?
Ideal — a matching Marquina Shimmer splashback creates a dramatic continuous surface from worktop to wall. The white veining pattern flowing from horizontal worktop to vertical splashback adds architectural drama. The non-porous surface handles splashback duties without staining from cooking splashes.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
