The Stone

See the natural beauty of Pietra Grey up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this porcelain unique.

Colour:

Charcoal Grey White

Deep charcoal porcelain with bright white veining — a high-contrast marble-effect surface with commanding presence.

Optimum Pietra Grey presents one of the highest-contrast designs in the Optimum range. Its deep, rich charcoal grey base carries subtle diffused lighter grey undertones that create gentle cloud-like movement in the background. Against this dark canvas, a moderate to dense network of bright white veins crisscrosses the surface, ranging from fine threads to medium-bold lines with random, diagonal movement and frequent intersections. The polished finish amplifies the dramatic contrast between the dark base and bright white veining, reflecting light gently across the surface. Pietra Grey is a surface that commands attention — it works best as a centrepiece in kitchens where bold, architectural character is the design objective. As porcelain stoneware, it's completely heat-proof, acid-resistant, and maintenance-free. Manufactured in extra-large 1840 × 3300mm slabs from 100% natural raw materials. Supplied and installed by In2Stone across Hampshire.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Pietra Grey

What does Optimum Pietra Grey look like?
Pietra Grey has a deep, rich charcoal grey base with subtle lighter grey cloud-like undertones. Bright white veining crisscrosses the surface in moderate to dense coverage, ranging from fine threads to medium-bold lines flowing randomly and diagonally. The polished finish creates strong contrast. It's a high-impact, architectural surface with commanding visual presence.
How does Pietra Grey compare to Black Marquina?
Both are dark surfaces with bright white veining, but they differ in base colour and pattern. Black Marquina has a deeper, near-black base with more erratic, sharply contrasting veining. Pietra Grey is charcoal rather than black, with softer background movement and more frequent vein intersections. Pietra Grey is slightly warmer and more nuanced; Black Marquina is starker and bolder.
What cabinetry works with Pietra Grey?
White or pale grey cabinetry creates the classic high-contrast look, with the white veining in the worktop connecting visually to the lighter units. For a moodier scheme, mid-grey or dark timber creates continuity with the charcoal base. Chrome or brushed nickel hardware suits the cool grey tones, while brushed brass adds warmth.
Is Pietra Grey suitable for commercial spaces?
Extremely suitable. The dramatic, architectural character makes it an excellent choice for hotel reception desks, restaurant counters, cocktail bars, and corporate lobbies. Porcelain's heat resistance, stain immunity, and extreme durability make it ideal for high-traffic commercial environments where the surface needs to look impressive and perform under pressure.
What thickness should I choose?
The 20mm thickness is the standard for worktops and islands, providing a solid, substantial feel. The 12mm option works well for wall cladding, splashbacks, and thinner worktop profiles. For large islands with unsupported spans, In2Stone advises on structural requirements during the templating consultation.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
