The Stone

See the natural beauty of Cloudy Belgian Blue up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this quartz unique.

Colour:

Black Brown White

Style:

Speckled Plain Polished

Deep rich brown-black quartz with dense fine white speckling creating crystalline textural interest from the Cloudy collection.

Quartzforms Cloudy Belgian Blue completes the Cloudy collection — and despite its name, the surface is a deep rich brown-black rather than blue. Named for Belgian Blue limestone, the surface presents a dominant deep rich brown-black base uniformly covered with a very fine dense distribution of minute bright white or very light grey speckles. These tiny flecks create a subtle granular texture consistently dispersed across the material, implying a smooth finish with a refined sparkling quality. The character is understated and sophisticated — a plain solid background with delicate almost crystalline textural interest.

Cloudy Belgian Blue stands apart from its Cloudy siblings through the visibility and brightness of its speckling. Where Cloudy Black and Cloudy Black and More have subtle barely-visible flecks, Belgian Blue's white speckles are more defined and luminous against the deep brown-black base. The effect is closer to a starfield than a texture — minute points of light scattered across darkness. This crystalline quality adds a refinement that the more muted Cloudy surfaces do not possess. The deep brown-black base is warmer than pure black, adding richness and depth.

In2Stone recommends Cloudy Belgian Blue for clients who want dark sophistication with subtle sparkle. The fine speckling makes it significantly more practical than plain black — marks and fingerprints are effectively camouflaged by the crystalline texture. It pairs with white or cream cabinetry for contrast, or dark timber for tonal warmth. Hardware in chrome or brushed nickel echoes the bright speckling; brushed brass adds warm contrast.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Cloudy Belgian Blue

Is Cloudy Belgian Blue actually blue?
No — the name references Belgian Blue limestone (Pierre Bleue de Belgique), a famous dark grey-blue building stone. The Quartzforms surface is a deep rich brown-black. The name connects to the heritage Belgian stone aesthetic rather than describing the actual colour.
What creates the sparkle effect?
Dense minute bright white or light grey speckles are uniformly distributed across the dark base. These tiny flecks catch light, creating a subtle crystalline or starfield quality. The effect is refined rather than glittery — understated sparkle rather than overt shimmer.
How does this differ from Cloudy Black?
Cloudy Black has barely-visible lighter flecks on a charcoal base — extremely subtle. Belgian Blue has more defined bright white speckles on a deeper brown-black base — more visible crystalline quality. Belgian Blue has more textural interest and its speckling is noticeably more luminous.
Is the speckling practical?
Very practical — the bright white speckles on the dark base effectively camouflage fingerprints, water spots, dust, and everyday marks. This makes Belgian Blue significantly easier to maintain than plain dark surfaces. Daily cleaning with warm water and a microfibre cloth is all that is needed.
What is Belgian Blue limestone?
Pierre Bleue de Belgique is a famous dark bluish-grey limestone quarried in Belgium, used extensively in European architecture since medieval times. The Quartzforms surface captures the dark, sophisticated character of this heritage building material with the practical performance of engineered quartz.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
