The Stone

Style:

Veined Natural Polished

Pristine white elegance from the legendary Macaubas quarries — delicate grey and taupe ribbons flowing across a luminous canvas.

Bianco Macaubas quartzite carries the prestige of one of Brazil's most celebrated stone-producing regions. Quarried in Diamantina, Minas Gerais — the same geological terrain that yields some of the world's most prized gems — this luminous white quartzite features a clean, bright base with elegant flowing veins of soft grey and warm taupe-beige tracing horizontal, ribbon-like paths across the polished surface. The gentle, directional veining creates a refined contemporary quality with beautiful linear movement. Also known as White Macaubas or Branco Macaubas, this stone bridges the aesthetic gap between pristine white marble and the durability of quartzite. It's harder and more resistant than marble, with excellent frost resistance and minimal acid sensitivity. It should be noted that Bianco Macaubas can be more porous than some highly metamorphosed quartzites, so proper sealing is particularly important — our team ensures thorough initial sealing as part of every installation. In2stone values Bianco Macaubas for its ability to bring sophisticated white stone beauty into real family kitchens. The warm taupe undertones in its veining prevent it from feeling cold or clinical, while the linear movement adds character without complexity — a stone that's as easy to live with as it is beautiful to look at.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Bianco Macaubas

What does Bianco Macaubas quartzite look like?
Bianco Macaubas has a clean, luminous white base with elegant flowing veins of soft grey and warm taupe-beige that trace horizontal, ribbon-like paths across the surface. The gentle directional movement is refined and contemporary — less dramatic than heavily veined quartzites, with a sophisticated linear quality.
Is Bianco Macaubas quartzite the same as white marble?
No — though they can look similar, they're fundamentally different stones. Bianco Macaubas is a metamorphic quartzite (Mohs 7) that's harder, more scratch-resistant, and less prone to etching than marble (Mohs 3-5). It delivers the white elegance of marble with significantly better practical performance for kitchens.
Does Bianco Macaubas quartzite need more sealing than other quartzites?
Bianco Macaubas can be slightly more porous than some highly metamorphosed quartzites, so we recommend thorough initial sealing with multiple coats and diligent annual resealing. Once properly sealed, it performs excellently as a kitchen surface. Our installation team handles the initial sealing as standard.
Where in Brazil is Bianco Macaubas quarried?
Bianco Macaubas comes from quarries near Diamantina in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. This is one of Brazil's most important geological regions — the same terrain that produces precious gems and some of the world's most sought-after natural stones. The name 'Macaubas' connects it to the renowned stone-producing district.
What finishes are available for Bianco Macaubas quartzite?
Bianco Macaubas is available in an unusually wide range of finishes: polished, honed, leathered, sawn-cut, sandblasted, and tumbled. Polished shows off the white luminosity best, honed creates a contemporary matte look, and leathered adds a rustic, tactile dimension. Each finish transforms the stone's character.
★★★★★
"Excellent Service and Beautiful Results - Highly Recommended! I recently had In2stone install new quartz worktops in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was completely stress-free. The team was not only competitively priced but also incredibly friendly and professional throughout the entire process. They handled everything seamlessly - removing the existing sink, hob, and old laminate worktops before fitting the new quartz surfaces. The finished worktops are absolutely beautiful and have transformed my kitchen into a modern, minimalist space that I love spending time in. The quality of workmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail really shows. I'm a very satisfied customer and would highly recommend In2stone to anyone considering new worktops. Well done to the entire team - you've exceeded my expectations!"
