This stunning stone is quarried in the picturesque region of Levanto, Liguria, Italy, a source known for its rich and distinctive marbles. Like all natural marbles, Rosso Levanto formed over millennia as limestone underwent immense heat and pressure deep within the earth's crust, recrystallising its calcite minerals into this dense, interlocking stone. The striking burgundy and reddish-purple tones are typically a result of iron oxide minerals present during its geological formation, while the stark white veins are pure calcite.
