The Stone

See the natural beauty of Surf Green up close — the surface texture, colour depth, and veining that make this granite unique.

Colour:

Green Grey Beige

Style:

Swirled Natural Polished

Indian green granite with swirling sage-and-olive banding and dark reddish-brown speckling across the surface.

Surf Green granite comes from the Rajasthan or South India quarrying regions — and it is one of the most distinctively coloured stones in the In2Stone granite collection. The slab presents a light sage green-beige base with dynamic swirling movement created by moderate to dense wavy bands of deeper olive green and light grey, interspersed with brighter off-white and very pale grey patches. Dark reddish-brown to black speckles are scattered throughout, adding contrast to the green-toned base. The rich granular texture is evident across the entire surface, and the polished finish brings out the full depth of the green colour palette.

Green granite is rare in the market, and Surf Green makes the most of its unusual colour. The sage-and-olive palette feels connected to the natural world in a way that few stones achieve — it evokes forest canopies, coastal rockpools, and weathered stone walls simultaneously. The swirling movement adds visual energy without the intensity of exotic veining, and the dark reddish-brown speckles provide a warm counterpoint to the cool green tones. This is a stone with genuine character and mood. Performance is standard granite: Mohs 6–7 hardness, excellent heat resistance, and the dense crystalline structure that keeps porosity low.

In2Stone recommends Surf Green for clients who want to bring genuine natural colour into their kitchen without resorting to artificial materials. It pairs beautifully with cream, warm white, and pale timber cabinetry, and complements hardware in brushed brass or antique bronze. It creates a kitchen atmosphere that feels fresh, grounded, and distinctly connected to the natural environment.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Surf Green

Is Surf Green genuinely green?
Yes — the base is a light sage green-beige with swirling bands of deeper olive green. It is not a vivid or artificial green, but a natural, earthy sage-olive tone that feels organic and connected to the natural world. The green reads more clearly in person than in photographs.
What creates green colour in granite?
Green tones in granite typically come from specific minerals — chlorite, epidote, or green-toned feldspar. The specific mineral composition and the conditions under which the stone crystallised determine the shade and intensity of the green. Surf Green's sage-olive palette is characteristic of certain Indian geological formations.
What are the dark reddish-brown speckles?
The scattered dark reddish-brown to black speckles are likely garnet or iron-bearing mineral inclusions — accessory minerals that add contrast and warmth to the green base. They prevent the stone from feeling monotonously green and add a natural complexity to the surface.
What kitchen styles suit Surf Green?
Surf Green works beautifully in country, farmhouse, and nature-inspired kitchens. It pairs with cream or warm white painted cabinetry, natural timber, woven textures, and botanical elements. It also suits contemporary kitchens where a connection to nature is desired — biophilic design principles align perfectly with this stone.
Is green granite practical for daily use?
Absolutely. The colour has no effect on performance — Surf Green delivers standard granite hardness, heat resistance, and stain resistance. The mid-tone green base and busy swirled pattern are good at concealing everyday marks. Standard annual sealing and daily cleaning with pH-neutral soap apply.
★★★★★
"We decided to get bespoke granite work tops for our new kitchen and have to say that we are over the moon with them. From the outset, Ian was very professional when selecting the stone, he listened to what we wanted, went through all of the possibilities that we could have for our worktops and went through the process in detail once we had made a decision. The templateing and fitting was carried out by an incredibly professional and helpful team run by Kev, who knew exactly what they were doing and just got on and made my kitchen look amazing. I would highly recommend In2stone for a helpful, knowledgeable and professional service from start to finish."
