About Inalco MDi

Inalco MDi is a Spanish-engineered sintered stone collection that pushes the boundaries of what a surface can do. Created using Inalco's patented H2O Full Digital technology — a water-based ink process that achieves a seamless 360-degree design where the inner core precisely mirrors the outer face — every MDi slab delivers an unprecedented combination of realism and performance. From luminous white marble effects with delicate or dramatic veining, to raw textured greys, warm travertine-inspired creams, and commanding near-black surfaces, the MDi range speaks to every aesthetic direction in contemporary kitchen and interior design. As a sintered stone, MDi surfaces are virtually non-porous, requiring no sealing, no polishing, and no special care. They are heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, stain-proof, and UV stable — making them as capable on an outdoor kitchen terrace as on a statement kitchen island indoors. Manufactured in Spain with 40-50% recycled mineral content and significant water and emission savings, Inalco MDi is also one of the most sustainably produced premium surface materials available. In2stone supplies and installs Inalco MDi in Portsmouth and across the South of England, offering our full templating, fabrication, and installation service.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Inalco MDi

How much do Inalco MDi worktops cost?
Inalco MDi worktops are positioned at the premium end of the sintered stone market, reflecting the advanced H2O Full Digital manufacturing technology and exceptional performance credentials of the range. As a guide, supply-and-install prices typically start from around £450–£600 per square metre fitted, depending on the specific surface, thickness, edge profile, and cutout complexity. The 20mm slabs and more intricate designs command a premium over standard 12mm products. Contact In2stone for a free personalised quotation based on your exact kitchen or project dimensions.
Is Inalco MDi good quality?
Inalco MDi is widely regarded as one of the highest-quality sintered stone ranges available. Manufactured in Spain by Inalco using their patented H2O Full Digital technology, MDi surfaces achieve a 360-degree design continuity — the inner core precisely matches the outer face — which is a technical milestone most sintered stone competitors have not matched. The range carries all the inherent performance advantages of sintered stone: scratch resistance rated at the highest level, complete stain immunity, full heat resistance, UV stability for outdoor use, and zero porosity. Independent testing consistently places Inalco MDi among the top-performing surface materials for residential and commercial applications.
What is Inalco MDi made from?
Inalco MDi is a sintered stone surface produced from a blend of high-purity natural minerals — principally feldspar, silica, and clay — compressed under extreme pressure and fired at very high temperatures in a process that closely replicates the geological formation of natural stone. What distinguishes MDi from other sintered stones is Inalco's use of water-based mineral inks throughout the entire manufacturing process, including the core of the slab, not just its surface. The composition includes 40–50% recycled mineral content, supporting Inalco's environmental commitments under their EcoInalco programme. The resulting material is virtually non-porous, with a hardness and density that exceeds most natural stones.
What warranty does Inalco MDi offer?
Inalco MDi surfaces come with a 10-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. The warranty covers inherent material defects present at the time of manufacture and applies when the surface has been installed by an approved Inalco installer and registered after installation. It does not cover damage caused by impact, improper installation, incorrect use, or failure to follow Inalco's care guidelines. In2stone is an approved Inalco installer and can assist with warranty registration as part of our installation service.
How many colours does Inalco MDi have?
The Inalco MDi range available through CRL Stone in the UK includes 16 distinct surfaces spanning a broad palette: brilliant whites with delicate or bold marble-effect veining (Touche, Larsen, Syros, Atalaia), warm creams and beiges inspired by sand and travertine (Pacific Blanco, Geo Crema), rich browns and near-blacks (Umbra Marron, Terra Marron), versatile greys from light aggregate to dark slate (Iseo, Meteora, Vint, Pacific, Storm, Moon Gris), and dramatic blacks including the showstopping Azalai Negro with its white and gold veining. The range covers virtually every major colour direction in contemporary kitchen and interior design.
Is Inalco MDi better than Dekton?
Inalco MDi and Dekton (by Cosentino) are both premium sintered stone products and direct competitors in terms of material category and performance credentials. Both offer excellent scratch, stain, heat, and UV resistance. The key differentiator is Inalco's H2O Full Digital technology, which creates a full 360-degree design continuity — the colour and pattern extends through the entire slab thickness — which can provide more authentic-looking edges, particularly on marble-effect surfaces. Dekton has a longer track record in the UK market and a wider colour range. The best choice depends on the specific surface design you prefer: In2stone supplies both brands and can help you compare specific surfaces side by side.
Does Inalco MDi stain or scratch?
Inalco MDi has a stain resistance rating of 5 out of 5 and a scratch resistance rating of 5 out of 5 — the highest achievable. As a sintered stone, MDi surfaces are virtually non-porous, meaning liquids do not penetrate the surface and cannot cause staining. Red wine, coffee, oils, and acidic foods can all be wiped away without leaving marks. Scratching from everyday kitchen use — knives, pans, appliances — will not mark the surface under normal conditions. However, as with all stone surfaces, we recommend using chopping boards and heat pads as good practice to maintain the surface's pristine appearance over time.
How do you clean Inalco MDi worktops?
Inalco MDi worktops are designed to be as easy to clean as any surface in your home. For everyday maintenance, a soft cloth or sponge with warm water and a few drops of mild pH-neutral washing-up liquid is all you need — wipe down, then dry with a clean cloth. After installation, any grout or adhesive residues can be removed with a mildly acidic cleaner such as Fila Deterdek, following the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid wax-based polishes, bleach, or highly alkaline cleaners as these can affect the surface over time. No sealing is required at any point — MDi's inherent impermeability means it never needs the periodic sealing treatments required by natural stone.
