Frequently Asked

Questions About Infinity

What is Infinity Surfaces and who manufactures it?
Infinity Surfaces is a premium large-format sintered porcelain brand manufactured by Gruppo Concorde, one of Italy's largest and most established ceramic producers. Based in Emilia-Romagna, Gruppo Concorde has decades of experience in advanced ceramic manufacturing. Infinity surfaces are produced using high-temperature sintering technology that compresses natural minerals into a material of extraordinary durability and beauty, available in slabs up to 3200 x 1600mm.
How many designs are available in the Infinity Surfaces collection?
The Infinity collection currently offers 78 distinct surfaces, making it one of the most comprehensive porcelain slab ranges available. The collection spans marble-effect, stone-effect, concrete-effect, metal-effect, onyx and crystal-effect, terrazzo, plaster-effect, sandstone-effect, fossil-effect, solid colour, and contemporary patterned designs. This extraordinary breadth means there is an Infinity surface to suit virtually any interior design scheme, from classic Calacatta marble interpretations to cutting-edge sculptural surfaces.
Are Infinity Surfaces worktops heat-resistant?
Yes, Infinity porcelain surfaces offer exceptional heat resistance. Produced through high-temperature sintering, the surfaces can withstand direct contact with hot pans and dishes without scorching, burning, or discolouring. This makes them particularly practical for kitchen worktops where hot cookware is frequently placed on the surface. Unlike many natural stones and engineered quartz, Infinity porcelain will not crack or change colour from thermal shock.
Do Infinity Surfaces worktops need sealing?
No, Infinity porcelain surfaces never need sealing. The sintering process creates a completely non-porous material with zero water absorption, which means liquids, oils, and staining agents cannot penetrate the surface. This is a significant advantage over natural marble, granite, and other porous stones that require regular sealing to prevent staining. Simply wipe clean with warm water and a mild detergent.
What thicknesses are Infinity Surfaces slabs available in?
Infinity slabs are available in three thicknesses: 6mm, 12mm, and 20mm. The 6mm option is ideal for wall cladding, splashbacks, and lightweight applications. The 12mm thickness works well for bathroom vanities and lighter countertop installations. The 20mm thickness is the standard choice for kitchen worktops, breakfast bars, and applications where a substantial, traditional edge profile is desired. All thicknesses share the same surface quality and performance characteristics.
How do Infinity Surfaces compare to natural marble worktops?
Infinity porcelain marble-effect surfaces offer the visual beauty of natural marble combined with dramatically superior practical performance. While natural marble is porous, prone to etching from acidic foods, and requires regular sealing, Infinity surfaces are completely non-porous, acid-resistant, and maintenance-free. They are also more consistent in pattern and colour, available in larger slab sizes, and significantly more resistant to scratching, staining, and heat damage. The trade-off is that natural marble has a unique, one-of-a-kind character that no manufactured surface can fully replicate.
Can Infinity Surfaces be used outdoors?
Yes, Infinity porcelain surfaces are fully UV-stable and weather-resistant, making them suitable for outdoor applications including outdoor kitchen worktops, barbecue surrounds, and exterior wall cladding. The sintered porcelain body will not fade, discolour, or deteriorate when exposed to sunlight, rain, or frost. The thinner 6mm format is particularly popular for exterior cladding applications, while the 20mm thickness is recommended for outdoor countertops.
What slab size do Infinity Surfaces come in?
All Infinity surfaces are produced in a generous 3200 x 1600mm slab format. This large format is one of the biggest available in the porcelain market, offering significant advantages for kitchen worktops and wall cladding. The generous dimensions mean fewer joints on long worktop runs, more seamless coverage on feature walls, and the ability to fabricate oversized island tops with minimal seaming. The large format also allows fabricators to optimise material usage and minimise waste.
