Frequently Asked

Questions About Unistone

What is Unistone and who manufactures it?
Unistone is a premium engineered quartz surface made by Brachot, one of Europe's oldest and most respected stone companies. Founded in Belgium in 1901, Brachot brings over a century of expertise to every slab. Unistone surfaces are manufactured in Vietnam using advanced Breton compaction technology, combining more than 90% natural quartz with polyester resin to produce worktops of exceptional beauty and durability.
What finishes can I choose from with Unistone worktops?
Unistone offers three carefully developed finishes, each giving a completely different feel to the same colour. Polished delivers a high-gloss, reflective surface that deepens veining and intensifies colour. Honed provides a smooth, understated matte that softens the overall look. Velluto is Brachot's signature innovation — a velvet-soft matte texture with warm tonal depth that feels luxurious to the touch and is remarkably easy to keep clean.
How durable is Unistone compared to natural marble worktops?
Unistone delivers the beauty of natural marble with significantly better everyday practicality. Unlike marble, Unistone is non-porous, so it will never absorb wine, coffee, or lemon juice stains. It scores around 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it much more scratch-resistant than marble. It also never needs sealing, and it carries NSF food-safety certification for complete peace of mind in a working kitchen.
What slab sizes does Unistone come in?
Unistone is produced in two slab formats. The standard slab measures 3000 × 1400mm, suitable for most kitchen layouts. For larger installations — particularly kitchen islands and long splashback runs — the jumbo slab at 3300 × 1650mm allows for fewer joins and a more seamless finish. Available thicknesses are 12mm, 20mm, and 30mm depending on the application.
Can I use Unistone for bathroom surfaces and wet areas?
Yes, Unistone performs exceptionally well in bathrooms and wet areas. Its completely non-porous composition means water, soap, and cosmetics cannot penetrate the surface, preventing staining and bacterial growth. It's an excellent choice for vanity tops, splashbacks, shower niches, and even full wall cladding in wet rooms, where its low maintenance profile is a genuine advantage.
What warranty do Unistone worktops carry?
Unistone comes with a 15-year manufacturer's warranty from Brachot, covering defects in materials and manufacturing. The warranty reflects the robust engineering behind every slab — with proper care, Unistone surfaces routinely last well beyond the warranty period without any deterioration in appearance or performance.
How should I care for my Unistone worktop day to day?
Unistone requires very little maintenance. For daily cleaning, simply wipe the surface with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. For tougher marks, a non-abrasive cream cleaner does the job without risking damage. Avoid using bleach, oven cleaner, or abrasive pads, and always place hot pans on trivets rather than directly on the surface. Because Unistone is non-porous, you will never need to apply any sealant.
What makes Brachot's Through Tone Technology special?
Through Tone Technology is Brachot's proprietary manufacturing process that ensures the colour and pattern run consistently through the entire thickness of the slab, not just on the surface. This means that wherever the stone is cut, mitered, or profiled — at edge details, join lines, or sink cutouts — the exposed material matches the surface perfectly. It eliminates the colour mismatch that can sometimes occur with other engineered stones.
